Right now I don't stay armed at home because I mostly wear sweat pants around the house. I can't carry in the pocket or the pants tend to slowly fall down. I just ordered the Smart Carry holster to wear when in sweats. They should do the trick nicely and I'll feel a lot better knowing I've got some protection, spelled S&W 642, on.

And it looks good on, too!

I get all kinds of attention . . .

No, seriously, it works pretty well with proper pants and a bit of thought to gun size.

Ya, I think you'd get lots of attention if all you had on was your gun holstered in a Smart Carry!! Whoopie!!

Who needs a cod piece when you've an N-Frame in a smart carry? Might look like you had a gun in your pocket and were glad to see em.

I use a Smartcarry with a 4516. It conceals well with sweats and a t-shirt. You know its there, but hey it's a 45acp! In sweats!

I'm good with mine.
We did some late-night socializing with some lefty friends, including dancing to live music (not in Illinois!) and I saw the opportunity to use it.
Even my wife was unaware of the .45 down there, though I guess it perhaps doesn't speak so well for her...

Nah, but it speaks well of YOU if she didn't notice!

Ribaldry aside, I have SmartCarried in all sorts of places.

Very low profile.

I use a smart carry (thunderwear) as in IWB holster under my right pants pocket and it is comfy, conceals a j frame or n frame snub famously, and can hold 2 speed strips. I prefer it over a pocket holster since it frees up a pocket for a cell phone which helps conceal the gun even better. In my opinion it is ideal for snub revolvers since it follows the curve of the cylinder whose bulk tucks nicely at the waist level.

Once I got it I quit looking for the right holster, it was it. Never used it to carry in the crotch though, as sitting was awkward and I didn't like a barrel potentially pointing at my jewels.

BugBeard, as a SmartCarry owner you should be aware that there's no possible way that your barrel could be pointed at your "jewels," since the holster goes on over your genitalia and prevents the pistol barrel from pointing inward. Presumably none of us are so well endowed that bits of us ooze down and in front of this pouch holster.

Speak for yourself, Erich!

As Erich knows, I've tried Smart Carry, and for daily wear, all day, it does not work well for me. However, around the house, under sweat pants, now that would be great.

Snicker all you want. This is how I've carried for a couple years now. I have several brands and sizes of the ITC holsters. To the gym in lightweight shorts, I wear a size small SmartCarry knock-off containing a P3AT with mag-extension and CTC laser. Once I get home and change, the P3AT goes in the back pocket and on goes a medium thunderwear with my 3914 with NO CTC laser (Crimson Trace please note!) or a 915 with CTC and 3.5" slide. The 3914 can go under any pants or shorts. The 915, with its thicker grip, needs a little extra space.

This truly ended my monthly holster purchases looking for something that worked. It is the only practical all-around carry method.

haha t3chnoid, you sound like one tactical hombre. I have to admire that. And yep, it really is a great carry method.

Ok, I started this thread and here's the update.

I ordered the Smart Carry holster for my 642 on Monday. It came by USPS today, Friday. Very fast delivery. I already had on my sweat pants, as us old foggies generally do, so I strapped on the holster. Very nice fit and comfortable even with the 642 in it. Goes great with sweats.

I'm not so sure this holster would work for me though with a longer handgun. I'm short and with the short pants rise, in front, it would be a problem sitting. It is ok sitting with the 642 though.

All in all, I'd do it again. I like it.

Signing off...

The only real problem with becoming paranoid is identifying the exact point at which one is being paranoid enough!
