I spotted a Model 3000 12 gauge Police shotgun over the weekend, short barrel, rifle sights in 2 3/4" with the "police" choke. The metal is about 85% or so and the wood is nice but it appears that someone removed the finish from the wood, it feels rough, similar to some AK wooden stocks. The guy wants $190-, is that too high for a Japanese made shotgun?

I have one I bought about 10 years ago. The wood finish is certainly used but not rough. It has police markings (Peachtree City PD) and some wear on the frame from a rack or mount??
Seems like a ok shotgun, I ran about 50 rounds through it and seems to function fine.
I paid $175 for mine and later bought a factory mag extension and folding stock from the same dealer for $50.00.
I only bought it beacause it was S & W.
If you have the money, why not go for it..

Good luck finding a mag extension for the 3000 these days.

I'm quite pleased with mine.

I bought mine about 12 years ago and paid $125 for it. Mine is parkerized and has synthetic stocks and rifle sights. I have never had any problems with it, but dread ever having to find parts for it if I do.

I paid a little more for mine yesterday. The only reason I bought it is because it is a S&W. The guy I got it from had two. One had almost perfect metal but the stock looked bleached. The one I got is about 95%. The metal has a few minor scratches but the wood is very nice. It's parked withh dark walnut wood. It's a five shot 2 3/4" with 18 1/2" barrel and fits in the rack nicely with all of my Ithaca, Remington, Winchester, and High Standard shotguns, most of which are police marked. Mine was also made in Japan and born around 1980.
