I went to a Gun Show this past weekend and was looking for a new 22A-1. I found two at the show, and both were identical. The first dealer wanted $750.00 for his! I picked my jaw up off the floor and asked if it were made of gold or some other precious metal, but got the usual "These are great guns and they are hard to find!" line most of these guys shovel out.
The second one I found was going for $219.00, so I grabbed it! Two guys came back by to get it while I was doing the paperwork, and three more tried to buy it from me before I could get out the door with it. Five more show goers wanted to buy it outside while I was waiting for my wife to come back and get me! That's 10 bites on this pistol in about 10 minutes! A Manager at work and a next door neighbor also have told me they would like to buy it as well the day after I got it.
I saw another 22A-1 today that was new but the price on it was $375.00. So are these pistols getting that popular and that hard to find to drive the price up, or is it the "panic buying" going on right now doing it? I probably could have made some $ on this pistol, but I like the feel of it too much to part with it now. Also, did I luck out on getting this pistol for $219.00 Out The Door?

I paid $249 several weeks ago and it was not that hard to get. It took a couple of days thats all.

I think I paid about $100 for mine last year. It was actually priced close to $200, but I used the sale price of a Ruger Mk III for a trade-in.

I just paid $200 for a used 22s. All the new 22a that I have seen recently were going for around $250.

I bought my 22A with a Millet ReDot SP2 on it for $225 less than a year ago. Enjoy yours, I do enjoy mine.

The key is probably the fact you were at a show. However, these are desireable 22s. Nice find.

I paid $154 for mine used. Whenever I need a range fix I'll shoot it more than the others. Plinking to please.

I got my first 09' S&W 22A-1 Used but mint for 175.00 - It has the vis barrel sight. I Traded a Heritage RR and a old Hawes six shooter and paid 5.00 out the door. The accuracy is great - wish I bought one sooner. Ken

I believe the first dealer must be "High" on more than just his price. Current list on 22As' run $308-$356.
Here in Ohio our local Gander Mt. has the heavy 5.5 inch on sale for 249 plus tax, I to was at a gun show last week and found the prices to be high, example a guy had a High -POINT used 40 cal. you could see it was well used , he had 220 on it:confused: ,new there 179 around here.

I bought my first handgun today a new 22a for $192 on Gunbroker. I was going to buy at Gander Mt. for $249, but I could not pass up the price. I can;t wait for it to get here!
