Looking for some help. I have a model 29-4 nickel 3" BBL engraved and customized by Gary Reeder Customs. I'm going to sell it but not sure what it's value is. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

If in like new condition, why not start with whatever you have in it plus any profit you would like to realize? I'd think that gun will have a limited audience but, as I often say, I'm usually wrong and may very well be in this case. That's the reason I would tend toward a conservative price, if you want to move it in a reasonable amount of time.

Very nice revolver, but unfortunately I cannot help you with a value. All I know is that Gary Reeder handguns are true customs-very pricey (several thousands of dollars) and sought after. I don't think that I've ever actually seen one for sale. Even being 20+ years old, yours could be worth $2500 or more.

IMO it's rare that you get back what you've put into a custom gun, however, it has been over 20 years. Do you have the invoice detailing what specifically was done? A potential buyer may want to see what specific custom work was done. An invoice or a letter from the custom gunsmith is a good selling point. Perhaps you can contact Reeder and see if he can email it to you if he still has records going back that far.

I have seen Reeder's work and seen quite a few of his custom guns listed in the past. IMO, his work is not of the level of a Hamilton Bowen or the late John Linebaugh, and will not command those kind of prices but there are some who like his custom guns. You're most likely not going to find a comparable Reeder custom model 29 like that to establish a price point. I would think $2500 would be a good starting point IMO.
