Was just reading the IDPA magazine that came today and the stats from the 2013 IDPA Nationals.

29.2% Glock
26.1% S&W
Every other brand in single digits.

out of that top 3 pistols (332 shooters)
52 Glock 34's
31 M&P Pro's
21 Glock 17's

That Glock 34 is looking more interesting with that slightly longer slide and barrel. I'm feeling pulled to the dark side

For CCW preference Glock 19 took S&W Shield 26-18 followed by regular M&P and Glock 26/23/17

I think what surprised me is Comp-Tac has pretty much left Bladetech in the dust for holsters both comp and CCW.

Winners for reloading preferences not too surprising except may Berry's bullets and Hornady presses at 5.6% vs. 83% Dillon. Lot of people here turn up noses at titegroup but Hodgdon #1 brand at 46.5% and Titegroup #1 powder at 29%followed by Clays. Federal primers well ahead of Win and CCI. I suspect some of the reloading stats are skewed by availability.

5.11 vests, Oakley glasses and Peltor hearing all still reining champions.

Comp Tac is a huge IDPA supporter and has competitive pricing. I use Blade Tech for the M&P.

Look around at the large IDPA matches and you will see who supports the shooters with parts and service. That's why companies like Ruger are barely represented, even though the guns are good.

Just a few years ago, Glock owned the SSP division, and the M&P brought S&W back into the game.

Actually you should have said, "S&W powering to the front" for a title. Consider that the Glock was introduced to the US back in 1985 and the M&P came 20 years later and isn't even 10 years old yet. I'd say that's a huge advance to be that close to the Glock.

On another note, I have yet to witness this great customer service from Comp Tac. They sent me the wrong mag pouch and when I asked to exchange it, they wanted to charge me almost $20 shipping plus a restocking fee. Good products, but not great customer service.

I really got started in IDPA with a M&P FS 9 (and a couple different 45's) when they first came out and Glock was king other than the 1911 crowd. I've seen M&P power ahead over the years (especially with the Pro) but believe they are losing gained ground back to Glock (and others). If Smith does not continue to innovate they just become old news or a passing fad. CORE is nice but does little for IDPA or USPSA vs the old Pro. I just happen to prefer the handling and fit of the M&P Pro over Glock so I shoot M&P and will continue too for the foreseeable future. But like I said the 34 is tempting even if it is a ugly beast. S&W could take a cue from Glock and do more for its "fans" like Glock does with matches and gun give aways. Nothing like a pep rally with free guns to make converts.

S&W needs to make a movie....

How about "Dirty Harry - 2013"? Make the name more recognizable to all the potential gun buyers. Model 29s were scarce in the 70's because everybody wanted to be like Clint Eastwood.

S&W needs to become a household name with more clever advertising. When people think 'police gun' they see Glock in their mind's eye.

just another reason IDPA is not realistic anymore

who CC's a glock 34? who still wears a photographer's vest? the gaming has taken hold and has ruined it.
