Smith & Wesson 3000 Magazine Spring Retainer

I recently picked up a nice Smith & Wesson 3000 on GB and picked up a Choate +2 magazine extension as well...

When I went to install, I couldn't figure out how to remove the magazine spring retainer. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find anything. I'm guessing it's easy and I'm missing something -- but I can't figure it out. Can anyone help??

Gunpartscorp has a schematic online. I'd post the link,
but I get an infraction every time...

Been awhile since I handled one, but I think you just
unscrew the end cap, pull the barrel, and pry/wiggle the
retainer out with a screwdriver or whatever--tho
I might be thinking of a Mossberg.

I believe some parts are interchangeable with an early model Mossberg. I don't recall the details. I have one of those 3000s behind the bedroom door but it doesn't get enough use to break although the magazine spring might be taking a set having been under compression for eons. What did you pay for it, if I might ask? I didn't think they had any value besides sitting behind bedroom doors.

Scope mount for Model 3000

I'd like a Saddle type scope mount for my Model 3000, but I cant find one specfically made for it. Will a Rem Model 870 saddle mount fit the Model 3000?
