Smith & Wesson 38/44 King sights

Actually this is a original set of Ropers! Fancy wood is harder to find but its out there...

Ha! No doubt what had me fooled was the wood itself. You're correct about the grade of wood normally seen on original Roper's. Not usually the highest grade of lumber. But, they were made for function, and not to look like fine furniture, lol. And of course Mr. Cattledog48's gun would look great with a set of genuine Roper's, but I doubt he'd be disappointed in Keith Brown's version either.

Actually this is a original set of Ropers! Fancy wood is harder to find but its out there. They are my only thumbrest set,but after seeing the wood grain I bought them anyway.

Most long action guns have fit issues with target grips that have a enclosed backstrap. A couple set sets of ropers I have actually have a relief cutout to accommodate the hammer pull.

Below is an I frame set of ropers with the indent.

I have a set that I put on a king super target and they also have the hammer relief

Period correct black washer magnas not serial numbered to pistol came on this 38/44
On a 6 1/2" N frame they look and feel like a twigs on a live oak !
The grips in the photo feel really good but my model 27 deserves more than magnas too
Two children only one good pair of shoes
I have seen exactly the same ivory diamond on photos of engraved pistols of the same vintage
Anyone have a set of Cokes for sale let me know!

I just purchased what I believe to be the perfect grips for my 38/44 from a forum member
To quote ken miles from ford versus Ferrari
I'm happy happy happy :)

My humble opinion. It would be a shame to moleste original N frame Fitz. They are very nice as they are, and hard to find. Moreover every stock alteration is against my nature. Keith Brown and John Culina stocks are at top of the hill, but you have to wait and to pay big money . Why don't consider Curtis Harlow (aka 44magget)?

The "U" notch is a winner for many if not most/all purposes. I have some from Hilton Yam on a couple of pistols. More than adequately precise and fast enough for fighting.
