Acquired another excellent condition 3” S&W revolver. This is a model 625-7 chambered in .45 Colt. I believe this may be a Lew Horton, which is 1 of 555 and made in 1998 through 2000, but I’m not positive due to having a CCV prefix.

Product code 148121 states:
“Approx 555 reported manufactured for Lew Horton, plus an unknown quantity for others, with 3” full lug barrel on round butt frame with RR/WO, matte stainless finish, altamont rosewood combat grips. Serial prefixs include CDD, CDX and CEB”.

This particular revolver came with aftermarket grips, so it seemed fitting to add a set of factory combat grips. It’s certainly not a deal breaker if this revolver didn’t go through Lew Horton, but a factory letter is always nice to have.

Very nice
I have the best of both worlds, a 3” 625-6 in 45acp and 625-6 MG in 45 Colt. However, I would like a 3” in 45 Colt.

Just received confirmation from Ms. Susan Lorusso at Lew Horton that the 625-7 3” “is a Lew Horton Special Edition and 1 of 150 units”. This makes the information more interesting seeing as “Approx 555 reported manufactured for Lew Horton, plus an unknown quantity for others”. I look forward to seeing what the factory letter from S&W has to offer as well.

Very nice example of S&W in .45 Colt chambering. I have a Lew Horton model 610. Definitely, a step-up in 'collectibility'.
