Later today I will be taking home a 2009 632-1 3" Stainless Carry Comp .327 magnum with Crimson Trace laser stocks that showed up last week at my LGS. I didn't know anyting about this model until they told me about it. It has the Power Port in barrel in front of the front sight. I got the paperwork but no box. It is super clean, looks like it's been rarely shot, is well balanced and the Crimson Trace laser stock is really nice. Was the Crimson Trace stock offered from the factory? I've searched images of the 632-1 but have never seen one with a Crimson Trace laser stock. Therefor I assume that this was an add-on after it was purchased with the longer 3-finger rubber stock; which wasn't included; if it did come that way.

Regardless, I can't wait to get it home to shoot it! From the few video reviews online, I think I'll enjoy it. Especially with the variety of ammo it can shoot: .327 magnum and 3 other .32 calibers.

I did some searching here and their were threads back in 2010 asking about it but not much since then.

So, I'm curious about anyone else's experience with the 632-1 Carry Comp 3".

Congrats on finding one. I've seen two of them for sale and bought them both. The first one showed up at a gun show with a box of ammo with six rounds missing. The old guy, I can call him that as I'm older now than he was then, said he bought it for his wife, she fired six rounds and handed it back to him and told him to get rid of it. The second one was on the "sale" shelf at Cabelas. These didn't get much interest in the years after they were produced, probably a loser for S&W as they didn't make all that many. Not that I know how many, just guessing from the few I've seen, Traded one of them for a 1950 Target 45acp but still have this one. As to the Crimson Trace laser stocks, I doubt that they shipped with the gun but don't know that. You're not likely to find another one. As to actual shooting, I prefer my 631 and 16-4s with light 32 H&R mags to the 327 Federal Magnum.

Thanks Jeff for your expereince with your 632s. Yours looks in great condition! I was glad to get it since I've never seen one show up at a LGS or gun show before. The Crimson Trace laser stocks run around $180-$200 used so I figured that the $750 OTD price was pretty good even without the box. I couldn't let it go once I saw it. Videos of one shooting the .32 S&W Long seemed very manageable, almost like shooting a .22

I'd say $750 was a very good price, I'd certainly pay that for another one. The one I traded was with box/papers but had been shot and I traded it for a 1950 Target (pre-26) which was priced at $1700 although did include a Benjamin with the 632-1, and that was almost ten years ago.

I remember when these were discontinued a distributor was blowing them out for $450. Myself and 3 friends each bought one and they are great little revolvers. The 327 Magnum is one of my favorite revolver chambering as it's so versatile. The Smith was my first and now I have 4 Rugers chambered in 327 Magnum. I'll bet if S&W reintroduced the 632 it would sell like hot cakes.

firefighterjohn, congrats on the "new" gun. I've been a fan of the 327 Fed Mag for quite a while. The only one I have now is the 6" GP100. I'd like to have a 327 LCR or SP-101, or both. I've been noticing the Rugers' revolver prices seem to be rising faster than the other popular brands, but honestly I have not really been looking at many other brands lately.
The .327 Fed Mag is a versatile cartridge, being that it can shoot any .32 caliber cartridge, sometimes even the ACP. Lipsey took an LCR and made a cool little .32H&R Mag hammerless pocket gun that I'd buy if I could get a good price, meaning way below the $739 MSRP.
That gun up in post #2 looks nice. Maybe we'll get to see yours! The .327 from a 6" GP-100 is like shooting a BB gun for all that bang you get!
I had a Lipsey 5" GP-100 but they gave me an offer I couldn't refuse for a .44 S&W 629-6 on a trade. Now I see that GP listed about $350 more. Inflation I suppose.
22hipower, that is a nice gun!

Thanks mag318, I'll be on the lookout now for some Rugers to compliment my 632; it's always great to have several in a common caliber. What Ruger models do you suggest in a 4" or less? I really like my RHs, BHs and need to find a couple more Security Sixes.

Thanks jeffrefrig, I'll kep an eye out for the Rugers you have. I've learned that it's safest to stay mostly S&W and Ruger; especially if you ever need to sell one.

+1 on anything chambered in .327 Federal Magnum! I enjoy plinking and training with .32 H&R or .32 S&W (when my support hand issues from time in Uncle Sam’s Canoe Club make shooting anything especially difficult). I use a relatively low-recoil .327 Round for daily carry (though not the 100 gr. Round from American Eagle which is punishing). It looks like you will have a great wheel gun!

Amen on the .327 Mag! I have two, and they are favorites, being multi-cartridge capable and accurate. I truly like to shoot the .32 H&R rounds in them, light, little recoil, and generally accurate. One is a Ruger single action, and I would love to get a lever gun in that chambering as well, but they are rare and EXPENSIVE. No real need for it, but it would be cool!

I'm hoping that with the interest that has been shown to 32 H&R with the UC revolvers, that Smith decides to make a 3" K frame 7 shot in 327...

Or other explorations in 32 in general...

I'm a big fan of everything 32 cal.. I have handguns that will shoot all of the various 32 calibers.
3 are Rugers, LCRx. SP101, and a Blackhawk., 2 Berettas and a Cimarron dual cylinder.
My favorite is the Blackhawk, it is more accurate than I am! The 327 Fed is like shooting a 22 except for the very loud CRACK sound! And it holds 8 rounds.
The Blackhawk is discontinued and sells for close to a grand now days., I paid $425 for mine on a local auction years ago.
