I knew about Flitz on nickel and stainless. I've always been afraid to try it on a finely blued gun. Maybe I should give it a try." Flitz and RenWax procedure"
Wow, that Colt is off the chainHere is a good example of original factory bluing on my Model 15-3 from 1974 and an example of Colts bluing on a 1956 Official Police. Have had both for about 10 years and did the Flitz and RenWax procedure after I got them. Beautiful old school bluing.
That gun is gorgeous...It looks as bright as the royal blue on a Colt Python.I'm surprised you don't see a difference between your 19 or 10 and your 586. I have a number of early 19's (all -3 or earlier) and there is a pretty noticeable difference in the bluing between the 19's and my 586/581.View attachment 770190 Not that my 586 looks bad, just different. The finish on the earlier "high polished" 19's, 27's, 29's, 57's is sometimes referred to as black chrome. To my eyes, noticeably different than the post 80's models. I have never seen a later finish that compares to the old high polished carbona blue like this 1950 pre-27. Just my opinion...

Be gentle and careful, polishes can cut through the thin, blued surface and leave you with a very thin finish or even bare carbon steel.I knew about Flitz on nickel and stainless. I've always been afraid to try it on a finely blued gun. Maybe I should give it a try.
