I guess when you love Glocks as much as I do, it would stand to reason I didn't know Smith & Wesson had introduced the SD line of pistols (last year?). I saw one at a recent gun show and liked the looks and feel. It does sort of (to me) look like the top half of an M&P on a Sigma frame, however having owned a Sigma and shot a M&P I am here to tell you that I beleive it's better then both of those guns and at least as good as my Glock(s). I took the SD .40 I bought and went and shot 100 rounds through it. 50 rounds 165 grain Winchester white box and 50 rounds 180 grain Federal. I recently read an article by a "leading" gun evaluator/competitor who got four inch groups at 25 yards with the SD. I got an honest, dead on sights 3 inch group, standing off hand at 25 yards with the 165 grain Winchester ammo, so I guess he had a bad day shooting, but I sure didn't! The trigger breaks clean, like glass every single time, and while the pull is a bit long, it sure makes for an accurate gun! Now if Smith & Wesson would chamber the four inch barrel in .45, or .357 Sig, or .45 G.A.P..........

I recently bought a SD9, I'd have to echo your remarks. My buddy bought an XD40, shot both side by side and honestly I prefer my SD9.

That's two different calibers. The 9mm will almost always feel better to shoot regardless of brand. Less recoil always feels good.

For a better comparison, shoot your SD9 next to an XDm 9mm and a Glock 17. Then decide.

I was referring the feel of the gun in my hand and site picture, to me recoil doesn't really matter. I'm used to shooting stout 357 and 45 acp loads. When I bought the SD9 I went in intending to buy a Sigma 40, didn't have any Sigma's, looked at the glock, the M&P and XD. I walked out with the SD my buddy with the XD. Now to really qualify my statement I do have small hands so I'd say it's a given that the contour of the SD fit me better. That's why when I was shooting the M9 after the Navy switched over I had a bit of a hard time getting used to it after years of the 1911.
