I live in Rockport Ma. not directly on the ocean but a 60 second drive puts me at the shore line. This morning the air temperature was -6F and the ocean surface temperature is right around 39. As the warmth of the sea water rises into the cold air it creates a smoke or mist we call Sea Smoke.
The twin light houses are on Thacher Island. The original towers were erected in 1789 and replaced with the current granite towers in 1863. In 1967 a man often called the animal and known as Joseph Barbosa, a Mafia crime figure vacationed there compliments of the federal government while under the witness protection program. His testimony put several Mafia crime bosses behind bars.
