What is special about theese grips. They sold for $431 on popular auction site.

I would guess it has to do with whoever the maker was

The damage on the inside near the trigger guard prevented me from bidding more, as the photos didn’t show this angle. With shipping and tax these are ~$475 and like Weatherby said can fetch $550-600 as these are very scarce 1950s targets to find these days

Agree totally. I too watched them and did not bid because of the damage. These are the Factory "Presentation" target stocks that shipped on engraved and special order N frames in the 1950s and early 1960s. They are great grips and I would have gladly paid $500 for them if not for the damage on the right grip (clearly seen in this photo)...

I bought a big box of stocks/grips just to have these. Selling most of the others more than paid for the smooth K presentation type. They look pretty good on my best K-22 Masterpiece From ~1950.

I am somewhat of a wood junkie ( not as bad as Weatherby:) ), but there is nothing about them that would move me to pay that. Did somebody well known make them? They look unfinished

Is there a pic of the other side?

As others have mentioned these are factory presentation non relieved target stocks and very rare. I have bought boxes of parts and guns just to pick up these stocks.

I think I have about 5 sets, some nicer than others but I would love to have the pre-27 line up all wearing these stocks.

I watched the auction and didn’t notice the right panel damage.

Oh and a picture, cause why not!

Not to hijack this thread, but just wanted to show the difference between early verses late presentation grips. In fact, these are on my K-Frame 22 Jet. I think these are what some refer to as "Bookends". I wonder what kind of wood these are? I may need to smooth out the bottoms a little.
