Many of you probably know Mike Grasso retired LA homicide detective who use to post quite a bit on this forum. I'm quite fortunate to know Mike and live near him. Here are some pics of a real snub nose cannon that I obtained from Mike at a substantial reduction of what it cost him to have this made. I believe when Mike found the revolver it was a botched S&W model 57 41 mag. Someone had removed the fear sight and rounded the butt. The rest of it was in pretty rough shape. It was sent to Jim Hoag and Action Gunworks where the barrel was cut back to just under 3", new fiber optic sight added and the neatest little fixed rear sight. Hammer and trigger reshaped and then a trigger job to die for and finally a wonderful bluing was done. Most of these pics were taken by my phone so they could be a bit better. WP Also thanks tojjbrewst1 in helping me post the pictures.

Nice to look at it, but I wouldn't want to shoot it, especially with those grips on it.

It would be a handful with full house loads, but I'll bet it's not too bad with the reduced power "police loads". I know my 58 isn't.

That's a nice one alright. Looks like the work was well done. Congratulations to the OP.

Nice....very nice.....I am a big fan of big bore snubs, and a big fan of the model 58, which this converted 57 emulates in it's lines....big bore, fixed sights, short bl, good trigger, clean profile. Nice acquisition, you are right to be proud of this gun.
Now, take it out and shoot it.

That looks just about perfect. You ought to send the pics to TALO to give them some ideas. It would be nice if they would commission some Jovino-esque, blued, snubbie N-frames.

Several of you asked about that neat little rear sight well....I wish I could tell you more. I believe it was added by Jim Hoag. Wether this is a design of his I do not know. Someone told me Hamilton Bowen has a small sight like this but this is just hearsay. Whoever produces this little guy has a sure thing going as it makes it easy to convert a S&W adjustable rear sight into a fixed sight.

Very nice. I like the way he cut the barrel crown too...distinctive.

Post a shot of the rear sight if you could.

love the .41. beaut of a gun bud... very jealous. i just got a 57 mountain gun that is my current favorite smith... check DLSPORTS.com for a cool fixed sight fellas. i have them on a couple of my carry guns. Dave Lauck is a very nice guy and does some very nice custom stuff as well.

Hamilton does make a rear sight like that and you can order it with various side to side offsets to allow for zeroing your favorite load. Here is one of them on a model 58 he converted to 45 Colt for me.

Very, very neat! It appears to fill the complete rear adjustable sight channel. Many thanks for posting the complete series of pictures. All my best, Joe.

Very nice 41 mag! Hold on to that puppy when you put it through its paces. Love a 41 mag.
