Heard a story on the radio yesterday. Somebody named Jodi Arias, who, I must confess, I know nothing about, is apparently on trial for murder someplace. In jury selection they excused potential jurors if they said they could not possibly stay off of social media during the trial.:eek:

Think I'll give that a try next time I get a summons to serve.

How the hell does that work?! :mad:

"Your Honor, I'm a plugged-in techno-zombie and therefore unable to perform my civic duty as an American citizen."

This is a re-trail for her murdering her beau in self defense. First was a hung jury. It was a pretty big deal.

Actually, I can understand that line of reasoning for being dismissed in high profile cases, except that the jury pool just went down by about 99%!

REALLY? Look around the world right now. People are fighting tooth and nail to NOT be under the control of their government. Trial by a jury of your peers, NOT by a government appointee, is a basic right here.

Though maybe some facebook addict is not my peer......

Don't get me started. :mad::mad::mad::mad:

The result of the big push to register voters recently has certainly added more than a few mindless dumba**es to the jury pool.

Obviously, the all of dead voters who voted in the last election are exempt for jury duty.:rolleyes:

AMEN BROTHER
We should adopt the Chinese method.
You, the arresting officer, and the judge.
Since cops don't lie you ARE guilty - See ya in 5 years.

It's a shame that we can't ALL dodge jury duty :rolleyes:

I was recently summoned then called back the next day before being dismissed. While my opinion of the system remains unchanged, the random (?) action of selecting juries by way of driver license rolls left me surprised at the demographic equality and character of the 90+ regular folk who sat thru the selection process to a civil suit.

There is always hope.
