So what do you shoot CB Caps in?

I'm a strong advocate of the Aguila Colibri, now Super Colibri, as these are the first truly accurate CBs I have ever used. Their quality control program must be amazing.

I shoot them in a 100-year-old Stevens single shot, for which I built three barrels, one of which is a 16"er with an old Weaver B6 scope. I have this sighted in at a certain downward angle and distance of about 30 feet. It shoots a single ragged hole. The sound is LESS than an air rifle. 1/4" plywood is penetrated like paper.

I would strongly recommend these to any serious environmentalist volunteering with a neighborhood squirrel relocation program; be guaranteed a happy, non-complaining client every time. Sometimes they even do a brief little appreciation dance.

I have a few other kinds of CB and BB caps, but only the Aguila types can be depended upon for accuracy and adequate power. That's the reason I tolerate the cost.

I have been interested in trying CB rounds in a couple of antique revolvers, but first I decided to do a little research. I don't know how to contact the makers of Aguila ammo, but I did email CCI and asked them about the pressure of their CB shorts. I was hoping for a specific answer. I got an answer, but not at all specific. Linda Olin of their techical section in Lewiston Idaho gave this response:

"The CCI CB shorts do not actually run anywhere near the SAAMI maximum of 21,000 psi."

Incidently, if you check the SAAMI publication for rimfire cartridges, it says that 21,000 psi is the maximum standard for 22 shorts.

I shoot CCI CB 22 LONG out of my old Contender carbine with a 21" barrel. The little rifle also has a Tasco ProPoint red dot on it.
I can keep them in the 10 ring @ 25 yards at the indoor range (no wind)-- My lovely wife can shoot cloverleafs with it at that distance!
OTOH - She can still see the X on the target while I'm just shooting at what I *think* is the center of the target :)
They're really quiet, btw.

Last time at the range there were some *kids* (early 20s I'd guess) that were flat amazed at Miss Nancy's target when it came back from 25. He asked a bunch of questions about the gun so I asked him if he wanted to try it. I told him to cock it and that the trigger was pretty light. He hit the X too.
"WOW!" Then he cocked it and tried again - Nothing happened :)
So I told him that it's single shot --- His interest evaporated INSTANTLY.

CCI Cb shorts in a winchester 74 in .22 short only. still has enough power to cycle the action = quiet semi auto fun.

( actually got police called on by the rangemaser because, " It was so quiet it HAD to have a silencer, and there not legal....")

(suppressed weapons are legal in my state with the stamp, and my rangemaster is an idiot.)

The cb longs are what I would shoot in my M frame Ladysmith, if I had one.
