i got my 15-22 repaired about two weeks ago and they also replaced the magazine. i am wondering what the thought on the mag is because i need at least one more but i cannot find anything but the old style. is there a feeling that it was primarily the springs that caused all the issues? - ftfs. they did replace my magazine too so i wonder. i really need another magazine....

I have 1000+ rounds through mine and have had no gun problems. The only issue is occasionally a round will go vertical out of the mag, jamming. I have the original style mags. While plinking some gophers last night I had mostly no problems. Once though while loading a mag just as your supposed to (barely using the assist) rounds still didn't feed correctly. For the first time I noticed the spring appeared to have a bit of a twist in it. I had about 15 rds in. when rounds fed properly the spring appeared to be straight and solid. So this may be the problem. Anyone with both styles of mags notice a compareable difference?

I'm not quite sure what the difference is, but mine came with the old style mag, and I was having continuous problems with mag snags where the round would stand up in the end of the mag and be jammed in so tight that it would require disassembly of the mag to get it out. I bought new ones and they work flawlessly, so I had the S&W rep replace my original mag. He not only did that, but a couple days after I got one from him, I got another one from S&W! Now I have no troubles at all. I LOVE MY GUN!

given the choice, i would prefer the new type. where can you get them? the only place i have looked has the old kind. S&W site shows to be the old kind but i am unsure.

I've still not seen a detailed explaination of differences between so-called "old style" magazines marked simply ".22LR" and those marked ".22LR 25 Round" other than those markings. A couple of photos looked more like manufacturing tolerances than than changes to me.

I have 3 of the old style mags and they fire perfectly, HOWEVER, if you do not load them correctly, they will FTF. If all are loaded correctly, 100%, no exaggeration. I run cheap winchester 333's

I've got six (6) of the "old style" and the last couple boxes of the same Winchester "333" bulk have been nearly flawless. I think three (3) failures to feed out of at at least 700 rounds and one (1) in the last 450 or so.

The rifle and magazines may be smoothing out. I did buff the feed ramp and chamber six weeks ago.
