Model 629-3 Classic DX, 5". After lusting for a 5" DX, for quite some time, I got impatient and took a chance on this one in an online auction. The seller only had 2 pictures and they were of very poor quality. The gun looked a little rough and it turns out that was the case. Mechanically, it is excellent. Lockup/timing are very good. Cosmetically, it isn't so great. There are several rub marks and fine scratches. There's a small nick in the side plate, just forward of the middle screw. I suspect that it has spent ample time in a holster. The laser engraving is very faint. It would be a great candidate for a factory refinish, but from what I can tell, S&W no longer does brushed stainless finishes anymore, only polished. It will make someone an excellent shooter. No box/tools/docs, just the gun.
