PM me with any questions.
Trades Considered: I am always interested in Pre-1980 .44 Specials and interesting 38 M&Ps 1899-1965. No pigs or chickens.
On Dec 10, 1940, 25 Non-Registered Magnums with 3-1/2" barrels and ramp sights were shipped to the Wichita, Kansas Police Dept. These 25 guns were the last regular production 357 Mags shipped before WW II.
I have not lettered this gun, but Roy confirmed that it was in the last shipment in Dec, 1940 when I requested a ship date. I own the Magnum which is two digits below this gun, and it letters as one of the Wichita 25.
Three others are known to us:
Non Registered Magnum # 62445
Wichita PD NRM--Letter Arrived
Wichita PD Non-Reg Mags
I think it is noteworthy that 5 of the last 25 Magnums are known on this board!
Inlays are by Bill Mains who lived in Buffalo, NY at the time.
Data on Bill Mains can be found here- Passing of Master Engraver Bill Mains — gunsandammo and also in my original thread about this gun- Gold Inlaid Pre War .357 Magnum
Large Pics can be viewed in the album- Wichita NRM
C&R or FFL required.
Description:
Numbers match on Butt, Cylinder, Yoke, and extractor. It has been rebarreled and the barrel has no number.
There are NO Factory rework marks.
It wears real elephant ivory steerhead grips that have been darkened with stain or shoe polish. It might clean off- I did not try.
It has a very decent reblue since being gold inlaid.
Trigger stop added to top rear of trigger- see the closeup.
Bore and chambers are perfect.
It is mechanically perfect. Timing is excellent.
Endshake and rotational play are within spec.
Price is SOLD>> $7500 <<SOLD including shipping and insurance. Feel free to make me an offer.
Normal 3 Day Non Firing and Non Disassembly inspection begins when delivered.
Layaway available- PM me for details.
Payment: Checks that age well for 10 days unless I know you, Certified Checks, USPS Money Orders (NO other type M.O.s), and credit cards with 4% added.
The inlays have good detail---
I love the front sight insert. It is very fine work---
Bill Mains' "Buffalo" mark.
Trigger Stop on back of trigger-
Somewhere along the way the barrel was replaced. It is not numbered and there are NO Factory service marks.
