When someone sells a gun why do they post "sold to xxxx" instead of just marking it sold?

Not necessarily, I might do the deal in private mail and the seller can just post "sold".

We require that the buyer be identified when a gun sells in the first 24 hours. We hold sellers responsible, since we have no way of knowing who the buyer is if they don't post "I'll take it".
Resellers are required to wait 24 hours, so members who actually want the item for personal use have first crack. It's a contentious rule, but we take it seriously and have banned members for violating it.
