For sale is a wonderful Ruger Model 44 Carbine from 1962 (second year). The model was introduced in 1961 and marked as the Deerstalker, but Ithaca sued them for name infringement and it was called the Model 44 Carbine from 1962 on. It is chambered in 44 magnum and it was Ruger's first semi-automatic rifle.
This rifle (serial #54898) was my brush gun throughout the 90's and 00's. I bought it from a family friend and it has taken dozens of deer (and pigs) in it's career. It is in solid condition (clean bore), but it does have dings, scratches, wear marks and slight surface pitting on the right side of the barrel from honest use and storage. The rifle has been well cared for, but it was a working rifle for the first 40-45 years of it's life. I haven't hunted with it in probably 15 years, so the rifle only gets 4-5 range sessions a year. But I have to take it out occasionally because it is a blast to shoot at the range with my Model 29.
You know if you have been searching for one, that these models have become collectible and too expensive. Here is a chance to pick one up at a good price.
C&R eligible.
Price is $715 (OBO) + $35 to ship from my FFL in Mass. I will pay the transfer fee from this end.
Zelle (preferred), but can also accept Venmo and CashApp. I would rather not take a money order, but will accept it if that is your only option.
I can take additional pictures (both inside and in natural light) if needed. Please email ([email protected]) or PM with any questions.
