My girlfriend and I are planning a trip and will be passing through Tucson for a day and a night.

Need to find something to do and a great restaurant.

Some of the trip is hiking and horse riding in the desert so interested in something unrelated.

I have not booked a room yet either so open to a nice clean hotel also.

The El Charro Cafe is good place to eat, and historical.
Ditto on the Sonora Desert Museum, also there is Old Tucson where they made many western movies.
While in the area go to Tombstone and Bisbee.
Can't help you on a hotel.
Good luck and let us know how it went.

If you like tamales, be sure to get some at the Tucson Tamale Co.
And another vote for El Charro
If you don't like Mexican or Southwest food I have no idea where to eat.

If you are into wine & spirits, check out the Rumrunner. They also used to have a small bistro but it was closed last winter when I was there, might be open again now.

What he said.....

^^^^ I monkeyed out from the heat at the Pima Air Museum and my wife had to get me to the building which seemed about a half a mile away. The video camera was running and you could hear me talking all sorts of nonsense.

I suppose that it's not 120 degrees there right now, though.

Old Tucson
Safari Club Museum
Mission San Javier del Bac. Many feel it is the most beautiful of the missions. Above the door, on the lintel, there are carvings of a mouse and a cat, at opposite ends. Legend says that when the cat catches the mouse, it will signify the End of the World.

The beautiful statues of the saints were made in an interesting way. The statues were carved nude and then real clothing was dipped in plaster and put on the figures.

As you drive towards the mission, just after leaving the freeway, there is a talus slope to the left, on the hill. That slope is the only known habitat for the Talus Toad.

Food: Mi Nestito

When my uncle was alive, we used to visit Tucson fairly often. The Pima Air Museum is well worth it, especially the Atlas missile silo. The Sonora Desert Museum is excellent and Old Tucson is pretty cool. Though Tombstone is about an hour away, I felt it was more of a tourist trap than anything. Bisbee was interesting.

Can't help you with dining. I'm not certain the restaurants we used to eat at are even open anymore.

The Dove of the Desert is a special place.
The Titan Missile Silo is just S of there.
And both are not far from the Pima, which I dearly love.
Old Tucson is way NW of town and although I like it, it may not be worth the your trip.
