Some before and after images of some 9 mm luger cases. This was my first attempt at using the sonic cleaner. They spent 5 mins in a Hornady Lock-n-Load 2L sonic cleaner using the Hornady One Shot sonic cleaning solution. I'm curious to see if I can get better results with different solutions, processing times and using heat/no heat.

I have a Lyman ultrasonic. I have better results using no heat. According to Lymans instructions they say that heat will tarnish the brass. Use the heat when cleaning gun parts.

I have always used Ottosonic solution from Jules Borel. Ten minutes in the ultrasonic cleaner then 10-15 minutes in my vibratory tumblers and brass looks like new.

You need to run them longer. I used to do 30 minutes and then rinse. Now I use the ultrasonic for cleaning gun parts and use stainless steel pins and rotary tumbler for cleaning brass.

Edit: I used the Hornady brass cleaning solution too.

I have a hornady LnL, love it. Easy to use, brass comes out clean!
I use hornady solution with a sprinkle of lemshine.

I think I'll buy a tumbler when my range start giving out prizes for the shiniest brass!! LOL

Agitate the basket to shuffle them around halfway through. I also get better results cleaning about 2/3rds as many as you have there in your pictures for each batch, and I give them 2x480 second cycles.

My last batch was two 15 minute sessions. Between them, I took the basket and shook it around a bit and they came out much better. Thanks.

YMMV, but I use 50/50 vinegar/water with a splash of Dawn soap. Two cycles for a total of 8 mins with heat and they're clean including primer pockets.

How do you get them dry ......FAST? After you rinse them off.
I rinse them in water when done and then place them on a cookie sheet in a toaster over for about 10 min at around 200*. The oven has a convection feature that circulates the air. Afterwards, a pass in the tumbler and it's hard to tell them from new.
