Have been testing my long suffering 9mm loads, which all too often result in various out-of-spec fail mode issues.

Last couple weeks, loading 115/124 Berries plated; 124/147 cast lead, with WSF/AutoComp/RamshotSilhouette/HS6.

Put nearly 2000 down range for testing.

180 today in Steel Challenge. No flaws. WOOT!!!!

OAL note: despite 'fail to feed' problem with 1.169 in a Walther PPX, those very same boolits functioned fine in 3 other pistols.

And with the 124plated/4.7~5.2 AutoComp loads at Hodgdons OAL listed, perfect function.

In fact, I'm beginning to like AC, never used it before.

Congrats! My Walther PPX doesn't like my garden variety 124/25's reloads. For a 125 gr 0.356 diam 9mm no lube groove rn coated, it likes a COL of about 1.080 whereas my other 9's get along with the COL around 1.100-05. The PPX has the CZ-like short throat/chamber. With that being said, the PPX is a keeper. It's factory trigger is phenomenal.

I shoot a good deal of 9 mm through 1911's and BHP's as range ammo.
Several of my pal's shoot CZ's.
I have been using a Manson, finish reamer on the barrels so that I/we can use ONE (1) C.O.A.L. in all of the pistols.
Having to change cartridge length for different pistols is a pain.
The reamer is simplicity itself.

I can't get lead to chamber in my PPX. The same rounds chamber perfectly in my M&P FS9. It's like the feed ramp is at too steep an angle, and the lead digs in slightly. I'll need to try a slightly shorter OAL.

By the way, agree 100% with the PPX. Fine trigger, great gun.

gaijin...thanks for the info on that reamer. Is there any kind of "how to" video on the process. I agree, I don't like separate sets of reloads for my guns.

Deadctr...for lead I use Darda's stepped or shouldered RN 124's (maybe they're 125's) @ 1.120-25 COL. These pass Mr. Plunk and load/shoot well. Now for their non-stepped bullets I have to back that down. I don't have that info close by. I normally shoot the stepped lead bullets. They've got a friendlier ogive.

re: "the PPX is a keeper. It's factory trigger is phenomenal."

being this is specifically my son's prize 9mm, he's the one that will be keeping it.

Agree the trigger is impressive. Given it looks like a gooney bird, it does fall to hand pleasantly. It just isn't a package I care for.

Not to drift my own thread too much, I find my own needs for best accuracy, is something heavier or with a more defined balance point.

I have been too long a 'weight forward' kind of operator, and all efforts to retrain from that simply haven't worked. I need something with a discernible bias to the muzzle, and group sizes then decrease accordingly.

She's definitely the ugly stepsister, maybe that's why she tries harder! My all around best shooter in my small arsenal is the S&W 39-2. Why they dc'd that masterpiece is anyone's guess.

M657...are you in the Bend area? I read about that gun range tank explosion up there last month...what a tragedy.
