Source for 250gr Keith .44s ?

I cast my own, RCBS mould, and even though this mould has the round grease groove they drop reasonably close versions. I have found most bullets advertised as Keith or Keith style are way off the mark. Especially those using a bevel base.

Left to right 224 gr NOE with a very square grease groove. Next is a 429421 Lyman from a 49 yr old mold. 3rd is a 270 gr NOE with a square grease groove and (4) is a 310 Lee gas check with a nearly useless crimp groove that shoots very good im my 9" Ruger SRH and 629. If a caster really has to have a square grease groove, the NOE's are as close as I've seen personally. The 224 Noe shoots great in my 29-4 4" but none are as good as the Lyman. I suspect the Accurate clone would do as well IF..we do our part.

I found a custom machine shop that had all the H&G designs . When I contacted them and told them what I wanted they said they would have to get back to me . A few days later they gave me a price on H&G 503 , Keiths swc after he lost faith in Lyman . It has been a real winner after trying several different clones that " just didn't cut it " . Regards Paul

Hmmm..Paul, where is that machine shop? I might just have to have one of Elmers creations (like I need another mold) but it's not about "need" is it?

Yep it's working now. I have not bought those from Matt's but have bought some others. Great service, glad the website is working again.

Well, I guess Matts is down again. Every time I try to go there it says that this URL is not found on this server.

There's something weird going on with the site then because it just worked for me and has every time I've tried it. Doesn't actually matter to me as I use the Rim Rock Keith bullets but it appears I could buy them from Matt's if I wanted to.

I've found the Missouri Bullets coated and beveled Keiths shoot well as 44 specials in my two Vaqueros (one magnum, one special) and in my GP100 44 special. These days I shoot 7.5gr Skeeter loads, and 5.5gr reduced loads for plinking. Years ago, when I had two Redhawks, I loaded a lot of flat base Keiths (from a local caster who sold at an LGS), and they shot full power Keith loads well. Leading was very heavy. They may have been a little soft (claimed to be 18's), and I shied away from the flat base afterwards. I especially like Missouri's flat faced round nose for Cowboy rounds.

Flat base has nothing to do with leading. Bullet diameter and alloy mix (hardness) do.
