Source for .300 Savage Brass

I'm have been looking high and low for .300 Savage brass. Midway, Natchez, Cabelas, etc., are all out of stock. I realize it's not a common caliber, but it seems like there must be a company somewhere that has some in stock.

Suggestions?

I take fired .308 Winchester and de-prime it. I then use the cheapo Lee trimmer and trim to .300 Savage length prior to sizing. I find that it is easier to trim this stuff before it is resized. After the trimming it will then resize to appropriate length. You will have slightly less case capacity and need to reduce powder charges accordingly, but it is no big deal. I'm sure the necks are a bit thicker too but I have never had any problems with function or pressure in my Savage 99E.

The only "problem" I have now is I just bought an M1A and now I need the .308 brass too!

I have 20 pieces of once fired brass in 300 Savage I got from my step dad. He is gone now and I have no use for it. Someone give me an address and I will send it to you.

I have made 300 Savages out of 308 Win brass too. It worked well in my M81. It took 1 - 1.5 gr less powder to get the same velocity with the 308 brass that I got using 300 Savage cases.

Freischutz, have you ever had a need to inside neck ream the re-formed .308 brass? Or do you just trim and load, like I do? Do you ever anneal them? The wider extractor groove has never made a difference for me either. The procedure works so well that I have no intention of ever paying for Savage brass again.

Hello - no, I never had to neck ream, though I wondered about it at first. I never annealed them either. However, I've only fired them 5 or 6 times.
