Mein Gott - they're up THAT HIGH in price.

Dude at the range GAVE me most of one last month - he'd bought it for his .45 Colt pistol and didn't realize that it wouldn't work. I explained the difference, wrote down what he needed, and hooked him up with a .45 ACP gun that he could use to shoot the ammo that he had. He shot a couple of magazinesful, thanked me, and gave me the rest of the box (he wouldn't take payment). Mighty nice of him - I'm astonished that the price is that high.

BTW, GLO, Rick!

Is that for FMJ? That's double what they're running in VA. .45 has been pretty consistently available around here. Bass Pro in Richmond had plenty of it last night.

These price hikes remind me of grocery store prices in the late seventies, when you would see multiple stickers at different prices on the same item.Yikes!

I saw a guy this AM buy 5 boxes (100 rds) of .45 Winchester premium defense ammo. The total was approx $125.00.

I was trying to keep up on things, and I missed how badly some things had spiked. Check out the price of M855 on Gunbroker, up over a dollar a round now. I hate getting in on the tulip bulbs late, but managed to trade into a case just to have.

.45, regionally, is still available here. Maybe I should start running GB auctions for it, LOL.

I am thinking it's a new way to fight crime. The way it goes, soon criminals just won't be able to afford any ammo and the crime rate will decline. You won't show up to rob a bank unarmed, would you?

My local Walmart is supposed to receive a shipment of ammo sometime this week(according to the sporting goods dept. manager). I shutter to think about the sticker shock in price!

Pretty soon I'll have to take my guns out of the safe to make room for the ammo because it will be more valuable.

I checked four Walmarts here in SW Houston yesterday and found one with 8 value packs (100 rds/box) of Rem 45ACP HP for about 37$/box. The others had almost nothing. The day before, I was in a Walmart near here and they had 6 boxes (I believe 100 rds/box) of Win 380ACP for about 34$/box. A man and his wife arrived just after me and asked whether I wanted them; after I told them no, they bought them all. I have seen quite a lot of 380ACP in Walmarts around here at various times. If you want 380ACP here, you will find it if you have the time to check out the various Walmarts.

I have seen no evidence that Walmart has increased their prices in the last couple of months. In fact, the Walmart on Frye Road is actually having sales on the ammo when they get it. Rem UMC 225 55gr they sell for 7.97$/box while the other Walmarts sell it for 8.47$/box.

I went to a gun store near me, just before Christmas, they were having a truck load ammo sale. I bought 3 boxes of blazer brass 50 45 ACPfor 13.99. I wonder if the next sale will be a pickup truck load sale. I load my own, I just bought them because they were cheap, guess I should have bought 3 cases and sold them, to buy reloading supplies.

What irks me is metal prices are way less
than what they were a few months ago.
Ammo should be dropping in price, not rising.

It would be MK, if everyone wouldn't act like they're neck deep in water and treating it as the last floatation device available. These ain't "normal times". And this is but yet another indicator of it.
