There have been several threads recently about muzzle brakes. For the most part, I've never been a muzzle brake kinda guy, always had flash suppressors, but I finally took the plunge and am glad for it. I did a lot of research, watched a lot of video, read a lot of reviews, and that lead me to purchase a Lantac Dragon. A buddy and I went up the hill after work just to plink a little, as well as to see how the Dragon performed.

From my point of view, the Lantac Dragon does exactly what it is purported to do. It does reduce recoil, it really reduces muzzle rise, the muzzle flash is what it is, and we all go into this understanding brakes are a bit louder. Two out of three ain't bad. ;) The Lantac Dragon isn't cheap, but all things considered is a good value for what you get. There are a number of fine folks here who preach "buy once, cry once", and if you are inclined to add a muzzle brake, follow that sage advise. I'm not advocating buying the most expensive device out there, but buy quality. You'll thank yourself later.

Here's several short video clips of my friend, who's fairly new to ARs, and I checking out the Lantac Dragon. Two of them were done about dusk so you can see the muzzle flash. The grin on Brandon's face says it all.

Sorry, the video quality isn't the greatest. Well, there you go, my opinion, enjoy. :D

Nice - Mines on the way! :D

You'll enjoy it, I'm sure. It's funny, I always used to settle for what was good enough, now I see you really do get what you pay for (at least this time :D ). This now has me thinking what a really good trigger would be like. ;)

Thanks for this video. I've been researching muzzle brakes. One came with an upper I recently bought, but I don't know the model. I've been looking at the Dragon and a couple others.

In your video I didn't see any muzzle rise at all. That's what I want. I really don't care about muzzle flash because I'm not crawling through the weeds at night hunting terrorists. Even so, the muzzle flash I saw in those videos wasn't bad. Take the thing off and do it again and you'll see a much larger flash.

I have muzzle brakes on both of my MSR's and they do a great job of what they are designed to do. However, you will find that a good trigger will do more to tighten your groups than any other mod you can do to you rifle. Or any other gun you may have.

Shot my Lantec Dragon for the first time today - no video, but much like Gunny's and the promo vids on the Lantac site (which are pretty awesome, if you haven't seen them) - muzzle rise was practically zero. I shot off a bipod and off a rest, as well as a few in hand. I spent most of the day re-zeroing since I had changed out BCG's and some sight/optic mounting changes also, but once I got the sights and optic zero'd back in I was able to concentrate more on pure shooting.

A few things I noticed - not loud to me which is the norm for the shooter, but I was concerned since I had guys right next to me on the range - neither complained or indicated any concern about excessive noise or blast like you can get with some brakes. The stalls also have mesh dividers for brass, and the side blast wasn't moving the screen with any noticeable pressure.

I did seem to get some minor left-ward jump when on the bipod - I've got it clocked pretty much strait up per the instructions. Not sure if the left jump is from the device or from me, though to be honest. Didn't notice it shooting in hand, though.

Overall I am very pleased, look forward to spending some more time shooting it in and working some drills next time :).

Very nice, I'm glad I didn't lead you astray with bad advice. ;) So how did the new magnifier work out?

Those Dragon's are sweet.......I'm sure everyone else who got blasted out at the range next to you agree as well!!! ;)

Very cool - a bit spendy, but I like the versatility of being able to pop it on or off quickly. With my eyes it really helps at 100 and up, plus i found it pretty helpful confirming impact at 50 when I re-sighting everything in. The Larue is rock solid as well. I added to the picture thread - there were a couple of guys there and we wound up with my T1 and 3X, an EOTech, and a ACOG and had a good time trying and comparing each ;).

Guys,

These things are a pretty investment over here. (i'll spare you the dollarprice and mention it in euro's)

Lantac Dragon € 159
Surefire MB556K € 189
JP bennie € 119

Which would you buy?
I'm leaning towards the Lantac just because of the amazing video on their website.

(it will be mounted on a carbine system with 16" barrel)

I'm a bad influence! I think you'll really like the Lantac, the performance is awesome.
