Speed Loaders

Several years ago I bought some L shaped metal holders that you stuck on your belt and they gripped the handle of an HKS speedloader. I think I ordered them from Massad Ayoob. Don't know if he still carries them.
For me, I just carry one loose in my coat pocket. When I'm not wearing a coat I just use Speed Strips, or Tuff Strips in .44 Caliber.

Like the previous poster I can only manage to carry speed loaders when wearing a jacket or coat, and the speedstrip is used during warm weather.

I use DeSantis Split 6 on a belt. Adjustable for belt size.

As a Civilian I find carrying a speed loader a bit awkward at best and therefore I carry my re-load in a nylon pouch that I made to hold them. If I am pocket carrying, the pouch goes in my front pocket. The pouch will accept a Bianchi speed strip and that is my method. When I OWB carry, I use a Kramer horsehide leather pouch on the belt.

This method might take a few seconds longer, but I can not stand the feeling of a speed loader in my pocket.

I like Lefty's{Bell Charter Oak} model that carries the loader on top and splitting the 6 rd. loader. While I also use speed strips I prefer a 2+2 type drop box.

Various speedloader pouches are sold that can be worn on a belt.

I wear an HKS double speed loader pouch on my belt. If I'm wearing a certain jacket with good front pockets, I might just throw one in my left pocket.

I have a few different ones that I use to carry my speed loaders. I have one of the Safariland "wrap around" holders that splits the rounds over the top of your belt and closes with a snap. This is my favorite one.

I also have an HKS nylon double pouch that goes on the belt and velcros closed. I use this one the most because it holds two loaders.

My third method is actually a Gould and Goodrich "wrap around" type that snaps also. This carrier is designed for a Safariland speed loader, but I had to modify it to fit an HKS speed loader for my M686+.

Regardless of the speed loader pouch that I have that day or what gun I'm carrying, I leave a speedstrip in my watch pocket loaded with Remington 125 gr JHP just in case...

You did not mention what revolver you are carrying. That does make a difference.

Added: I normally carry strong side in a belt holster. I seldom pocket carry, and only then my 442.
My theory is, If I can conceal my handgun on the belt, I can also carry a hi quality Speed Loader.

K and L Frame: I carry Safariland Comp II speed loaders in a Safariland CD-2 belt carrier. I have 3 pair of carriers.
My K Frame Safariland Comp II speed loaders carrying 38+P are unmarked.
My K Frame Safariland Comp II speed loaders carrying 357 Magnum 135 Short Barrel Speer ammunition have a Yellow Dot on top for easy identification.
My L Frame Safariland Comp II speed loaders carrying 357 Magnum 135 grain Short Barrel Speer ammunition have a Green Dot on top for identification.

I swap around between a 64, 315NG, 66, and a 686. I color code all my Safariland speed loaders to keep them straight.

J Frame. I am currently carrying a 442 Pro Moon Clip. I carry my Moon Clip reloads in a California Competition Works 5 Shot J Frame Shoot A Moon Carrier "SAM". It is another spring steel belt carrier similar to the CD-2's.

The J Frame has another option. A J Frame 5 shot Jet Loader, carried in a Big Creek kydex belt carrier. I make the Open Top Carrier for the J Frame Jet Loader. If you can carry on the belt infront of your holster the J Jet Loader is the fastest J Frame reloading device other than a Moon Clip.
The Jet Loader is very similar to the competition Safariland Comp III.
Grip Clearance needs taken into consideration using a J Jet Loader, just like you need to consider the grips with any other J Frame Speed Loader.

The Jet Loader can also be pocket carried in the cooler months when wearing a coat, vest, or jacket.

Way too bulky...I just carry a speed strip..with practice, you can get a reload to within a few seconds of a speedloader...since the odds of me needing to reload are pretty low, I'll take the speed strip and a couple extra seconds in my watch pocket.

IMHO Speed Loaders are only good if they are worn on a duty belt when not trying to conceal them. For most of us civilians, the speed strips or a GOOD ammo pouch is the way to go. When I carry on a belt I use a Kramer Horsehide pouch with individual spots for each cartridge. After practicing a while with it I can actually re-load faster than with a speed strip kept in my pocket. That is basically because I practice a lot more with the pouch than the strip. If the speed strip was my preferred method I would probably be more proficient with that than the pouch. Bottom line is which ever method you choose...... PRACTICE!

642/holster in right front pocket. Speed strip in back left pocket. Sometimes, two Safariland Comp I J-frame loaders in a cell phone pouch that they fit perfectly. Speedloaders for a full reload, speed strip for topping up.
