speed strip question

I've got one in my pocket right now for my 340PD.
Been using them for several years, great way to carry a reload. BTW, now you can get them for calibers other than .38/.357 from Tuff Products. I got some for my .44 Spl./ .44 Mag revolvers. They aren't as quick as a speedloader, but still pretty fast.

For concealed carry, I think the speed strip is a good balance between speed and concealment. It beats a pocketful of loose cartridges. Sure, a conventional speed loader is faster, but "concealed" is a major part of CCW, and that flat strip is pretty easy to hide.

Yup I use em, they lie nice and flat in the pocket and if you fumble a reload under stress ya dont dump all five or six on the ground as you could with a speed loader. Yes I do use speedloaders and in compitetion too with no problems but then again I never did a reload under fire either.

I use them for all my 38s and 357s. I cut the little tab off the end so when coming from the pocket it is easier to reload from either end.:) I load the cartridges two at a time.

They're better for carrying your reload than for loading the gun. If you practice enough, you can do it.

I've had them for years. The most recent score was at a Louisville show when Doublesharp and GF had a table. They didn't even know what they had, they just knew it was a gun related item and they wanted $$. So I relieved them of their burden. :)

Model 60 in one pocket and Bianchi strip in the other. Usually have a couple more close by. I like the hks speed loader that I have for my J frame and will sometimes carry it, but the speed strips are easier to carry. Carry them also when the 66-5 is out with me. The speed loaders for the K frame are a little bulky. I do keep speed loaders around the house.

For my sometimes J-frame carry gun, I keep two speed strips in Kramer carriers worn SOB. (Dillon Precision carries a similar carrier of high quality, made by IHL, at a more attractive price.)

I use the Bianchi version of the speed strips. As others have stated, it's for the concealment factor for me as I'm a HKS speedloader devotee. The speedloaders are just a little too bulky when wearing shorts and a t-shirt, normal Florida attire.

I carry the Bianchi strips also. IMHO it is the easiest way to carry extra ammo and they are still "Made in the USA". How can you beat that?

Another thing to consider is a single speed strip and work across frame and gun makers product lines. You can load them up with good 38s and cover 5 or 6 shot revolvers, Smiths, Colts, Rugers, etc. Or move to 357s and do the same.

Thanks for the conversation. I'm working on an idea to "update" the speed strip. Now I just need to find someone to mold the urethane rubber.

An idea I've always had is why not a stripper clip with retainer lips on one end where you could slide out two at a time, then two more etc. I think it would be faster then popping them out of a speedstrip. But I'm too old to start inventing things.:D

Here is a 5 minute "prototype"

Anyone make their own? I saw a design somewhere on the a forum. They used a old "mouse pad" also think I saw one out of leather.

Out to the garage, think I'll try to make one.:)

I made the first one to thin and the leather split. Just a old belt I had . Sharpened a 357 brass with my chamfering tool and punched holes. Made a few small slits with a razor knife.
Probably will not last through many reloads before splitting as the leather is old and dry but it works.

Yes, I know it's a Ruger but it was out so I used it.:)

I would like to get a couple of speed strips in 38/357 and 44 mag. Who do you folks recommend and where would you buy them (on line - what website)? How much should I expect to pay? I am a big fan of Bianchi holsters and assume their strips would be of equal quality. Related question/thread drift, who makes the best speed loaders in 38/357 and 44 mag and where to buy and how much???

I can not say which is best but Midway USA is a reliable company and very fast shipping. You need to have over $25 or pay a extra $3.00 fee.
