Has anyone found a Speed loader for S&W M&P 38 Bodyguard revolver? (5 round) I haven't found one yet that will fit the small dimensions of the 38 bodyguard. Please advise.

HKS still sells a spedloader for the J-frame variants......and Bianchi Speed-Strips are also available.

Bianchi Speedstrip:

Hard to beat the Bianchi speed strips for ease of carry unless you plan on a belt speedloader pouch. If you plan on carrying a 38 snubby for primary defense, then the speedloader is likely quicker. If I'm carrying my 642, it's dump all 5 into whatever the threat then run like he!! in the opposite direction. I'll reload at a safe distance.

I believe the OP is referring to the BG38, not the J-frame Bodyguard (Model 38, 49 and the SS equivalents). The BG38 uses an aluminum upper frame with a polymer grip frame and apparently the cylinder is of a smaller diameter than the J-frames.

Good luck to the OP, the speed strips may be your only recourse.

Adios,

The BG38 is NOT a j frame: it’s an action with dimensions not used in any other gun.

A significant portion of owners have trouble getting them to reliably shoot the 5 rounds they carry: rapid reloads are a low priority.

Pizza Bob, you are correct, the BG is not a J frame and none of the HKS five round speedloaders work. I thought maybe someone knew of another manufacturer. Thanks,

Try 5 star

This whole issue is confused by the fact that Smith chose to recycle the "Bodyguard" name, even though the original Bodyguard is still in production.

I looked at the 5 Star site and they do list a loader for a "Bodyguard" - J2. However that same loader is also listed for true J-frames. Very confusing. I think the only way to know for sure is to call 5 Star.
