This is a very special pistol, one I hate to sell. I can honestly say this pistol has only had one malfunction in the 12 years I have owned it, and that was attributable to a bad magazine. This gun is a gem, totally reliable and very accurate.

The Background

This is the "before" shot of my 1992 Browning Hi Power 9mm. I bought this pistol used, in 1999. It was in very good condition as you can see here. The pistol already had an excellent trigger job, C&S wide trigger (eliminating the mag safety) and C&S ring hammer. But it also had the big tall sights, and needed some refinements.

I sent this gun to renown pistolsmith Jim Garthwaite for some updates. You may have seen this pic posted on this forum and elsewhere in Hi Power photo threads:

Jim's work was over $500, and included the following:

Heinie rear sight low mounted into the slide;
dovetail front sight radiused to slide;
crown the factory barrel;
bevel the magwell;
recontour the factory thumb safety;
de-horn all sharp edged from the pistol;
refinish the pistol with bead-blasted matte blue rounds and hand polished slide flats;
Wolffe springs throughout.
Sight-in and test fire with test target.

Here's a shot of the invoice --

The Craig Spegel grips in the photo above finally met their maker, so the pistol is now wearing Navidrex grips as seen here:

There are no big scratches, gouges, rust etc. on this pistol. It is USED, it is a SHOOTER, it has been CARRIED, so there is wear, the bluing is worn a bit on the high edges, etc., but it is still in Very, Very Good condition.

Prefer FTF in DFW, TX. But will ship at buyer's expense, and only to an FFL holder. Know your state laws - I won't ship this where it is illegal to do so -- (i.e. California)

Consider that new Hi Powers with cast frames (this 1992 example is forged) are going for $700 and up, and consider a trigger job with C&S wide trigger and hammer will run you $200 minimum, and then the $518 worth of additional work, I have priced this pistol at a very reasonable $1100, with one 13rd mag (or a 10rd mag if your state doesn't allow hi caps.)
