Well yesterday I shot my first "urban rifle match" at my gun club and it was a blast! It wasn't a big deal, probably less than 20 shooters, several different classes, bolt action, detachable mag iron and the one I competed in, detachable mag optics. I bought my Sport last summer (great price $599 plus $20 transfer, perfect timing in that regard) and outfitted it with a MOE stock off my 15-22, a Larue QR mount holding a Burris TAC-30, and a Magpul handguard which has heat shields the Sport handguard didn't.

I shot my 50 rounds in 2:19, no failures, no stumbles, quick enough mag changes (20 rounds in 4 different positions weak side, 10 rounds prone and 20 rounds in 4 positions strong side, 3 mag changes). I wasn't able to stay to the end, but I saw enough ammo malfunctions and stumbles that I figured I had a pretty good shot. What do you know I won! Pretty suprised! I just didn't want to embarrass myself!
Now if I can scrounge enough ammo I'll try and shoot the next one in the optics class and the irons class.

Good shootin' TexAg. Those are fun shoots. Haven't done one in awhile. Last time I did was with my Mini and took 1st looser :D in a very close match. I got the hits,he took it with the time. Worst part,my friends rifle went down and I let him use mine. Got beat with my own rifle. :D

Thanks guys! I probably had the cheapest rifle, though my optics and mount were probably right up there with the others. Now, if only this ammo situation would settle down.

Congrats....As I say there is just something about the Sport, it is hard to beat but I am really happy to hear of a winner with one. Although all of us who got them at the old day prices I think are winners.

Did you miss the Forward Assist or the Dustcover? ... LOL :D
