I heard a good one today...

"Saying that you're going to trade in your Sportster for a bigger Harley is like saying that you're going to trade in your Corvette on a station wagon."

I have a 02 Softtail Deuce and just got an 09 XR1200 last year. Man the Deuce does feel like a truck now. The XR1200 has the most powerful air cooled twin ever produced for regular production by HD, couple that with its weight and it sure schools (both with stock engines) the big twin guys! The XR1200 aint your old girl friends bike.

Ducati...THATS a fast twin.

I DO agree though that the new 1200's are quite impressive compared to Sporties of old.

Yessir, it is indeed. I had an air-cooled 750ss, HC piston kit, re-flashed the ECU, oversized valves, larger rear sprocket, smaller front. That sucker would take off! I would mess with the locals driving those pretty red cars with the dancing pony on front. It would demolish 'em up to about 80.

Had two sportsters, liked them both. Bought a Heritage and like it a lot more.

I like my "Geezer Glide". I'm not in a hurry to get there, but I always get there.

Motorcycling was never about speed for me. It has always been about being outside, fresh air and seeing the wonders of the open road. For over 100,000 miles it has been true with my Honda, Yamaha, and my Harleys.

Keep the shiny side up!

Another vote for the "GeezerGlide". As a matter of fact, I have my Ultra Classic in right now being converted to a trike. The stroke really screwed with my balance and leg strength. I should be getting it back in about 2 weeks. (I can't Wait!!!)

I have been riding most of my life and learned years ago, if you go like hell, you will probably end up there.

How bout seeing some pics of your chrome pony. Mine is the Road King on the left, my brothers Honda on the right.

I used to have an '89 Sportster 883 Hugger....yes,I purchased it from a woman....and later converted it to a 1200, and made a few other high performance upgrades, and I must say, that bike would scream. The upgrades made a huge difference.....I think from 40HP to 65HP.

I later sold it and got my 2000 Dyna Super Glide. The Twin Cam 88 cu. in. (1450cc) engine is wonderfully smooth, fast, and has torque forever. Full dresser engine on a bare-bones bike. Kinda like a "Sportster Magnum".

Ride safely folks.

Thanks guys. I just recovered from my "gotta have a HD" bug. I used S&W revolvers as medication as well as spring bass fishing in my 02 Ranger. Now you go and reinfect me with the HD bug. I'm thinking Dyna Super Glide, ot a Fattie, or.....ah-choo!

I have a 6 year old girl instead of a motorcycle at this point. There will be another RoadKing or GeezerGlide in my future.

Here are a couple that have passed through my garage over the years:
