I now have a couple no-dash 66s (2.5" and 4") that both have big sentimental value to me. They are shooters, but I would like to get both guns refinished and brought back to an "as-new" condition. They would also benefit from having a gunsmith look through the internals, timing, etc. to see if anything needs repaired or replaced. I would also like to have the side plate screws replaced since previous owners have boogered them slightly. The 4" gun has had some pretty extensive gunsmithing and action work done to it. I'm afraid if I send it to the S&W Performance Center for this kind of service, they might actually make the action heavier than what it currently is. Both guns could benefit from a new front sight ramp insert as well. I just have no idea where would be a good shop to send the guns to for this kind of work. Nothing dramatic. Check them over, repair or replace anything worn as needed, replace side plate screws, and refinish. All suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated!

Check out forum member shotguncoach's work on stainless. I think that is his correct handle. If not my apologies in advance.
I don't want to just get the guns refinished, there's some minor gunsmithing work needed as well.

Until you read his posts reserve your judgement. His work is there for you to see and if you just follow the processes which he freely posts, you will either do them yourself or have a great understanding of the time involved. and the potential cost.
