Standard Manufacturing 1911

Pete, I handled a blued Government Model last year at the gun shop. The fit and finish seemed very nice, the bluing was excellent. If I remember right, the price was about $1,400. I remember thinking for a couple hundred more I could be into a Dan Wesson.

I have no experience with them nor had ever heard of them prior to now.

A quick glance at their web site shows they're certainly not cheap. I certainly would never pay that sort of pricing without handling one first, which I'm sure you know as well.

I would think there's better options out there for the same amount $$$, IMO.

My .o2

I have been researching them. They make all sorts of stuff. I have been reading reviews and watching You Tube testing. The consensus is that they are every bit as hand built as a Dan Wesson. They just do not have as many options, but I think you can order your own serial number.

These are made in the same factory with Connecticut Shotgun, about 3 miles from the Colt factory. Lot of skilled talent in that area

I,ve read nothing bad about them, was looking at them too, specifically a case colored one. I know it’s not everyone’s taste.

Recently noticed, I have no bling in my collection. My one custom gun is pretty basic, no polished stainless guns, my nickel guns are satin, no engraved guns.

I’m told their single actions are made by former employees of Colt / USFA. I have seen their handguns at a larger gun store here in CT. Look very nice. Their case hardening is beautiful. I have one of their AR15s which is well made and very accurate.

C'mon people, it's 2024... ;)

I've never been a big fan of the super expensive 1911s, while still having an appreciation for them.

Not sure I understand the 2024 comment? I read all of that info on line prior to posting. I am not looking for what they say about themselves, but rather what owners say about the product.;)

I got one of their single action revolvers when I went to trade in something else. It’s a beautiful firearm that works fine.

However, I have attempted to get someone at Standard Manufacturing to tell me what .45 Colt load it’s supposed to be regulated for and so far haven’t been able to get a response. A search on the 1911 Forum yielded some information - generally that they’re beautiful and few issues.

Pete, I have one of the case-hardened models. I haven't shot it, it's a safe queen. However, the fit and finish is top notch. The gun store owner who ordered it for me had a couple at that time and he said it shot better than any other 1911 he had fired. The packaging was excellent also. The engraved ones I have seen are well done, if simple. I love mine. It's pretty!:D The only issue I have with the gun is I wish it had a full length guide rod, but that is easily remedied. I would recommend them. Beautiful guns. I don't know about customer service after the sale, as I haven't had to use it. Picture shows the gun in an aftermarket case.

P.S. The grips are some that Curt Harlow made for me.

Not only are the screws a brilliant royal blue, they are all timed so the slots run front-to-back.

I don't have one, but if I were to get a 1911 it would be a Standard. I've been watching them for the last few years, and I've never heard anything but rave reviews.
