Anyone found a nice way to store spare 15-22 mags where they fit well? Looking for something like a cabelas dry box to fit in my safe and store 8-10 in the smallest form factor possible

Plano makes a nice small dry box. Runs like $6.99 at your local Wally World.

Any ideas how many it might hold? The 15-22 mags look longer than standard 30 rd ar-15 mags

Mind you I've only got two mags, but if you look at the pics...

By my estimation you should get eight comfortably in there.

That's a cool storage idea and I will have to pick one up at wally world.

I have a bunch of the Plano field boxes like above. You can fit exactly 8 of the 25 round S&W mags in a box. The boxes are awesome. I buy them at Rural King, usually for $4.99 each.

Awesome, just what I was looking for! I started storing all of my gun mags in my safe whenever the big gun/mag crunch started and the magazines were double what they are now! 8 spare should be enough to fit and fit in the safe nicely :) The cabelas type small box I have doesn't look like it would hold that many

I found these 2 pouches at the surplus store. They hold 5 each. They're French army, I believe. I like the box idea, though.

I store my mags in something I can use. I just can't think of a reason why I would want to store magazines in a dry box in some safe. My normal shoot involves me bringing 13 25 round magazines plus my drum. 12 of the magazines are stored, then carried in two Galati Gear 6 Pocket Shoulder Magazine Pouches. Stores them nice and tight then I just grab and sling over my shoulder.

A Pelican 1200 would be perfect if it needs to be as compact as possible.

EDIT-I forgot that the 15-22 mags are longer than GI mags. You would need something like a 1400 or 1450.

I keep all my various mags in fat 50's. It's easy to throw one in the back of the 4-wheeler and go.

What is the item number on that Plano Field Box?
It seems there are different sizes and I can't make out the model # from the picture.

Rubber band them together or use a velcro strap, then just put them in your safe.

If you want something stack-able... use the plastic ammo boxes as shown above or a small range bag.

Questions...

1. How many magazines are we talking about here?
2. Are you storing them loaded or unloaded?
3. Are you shooting the 15-22 frequently, just every now and then, or daily?
4. How big is your safe?
5. 25 round magazines? 35 round magazines? 10 round magazines? Drum magazines? All of the above?

Another thing you could do is buy the tacticool22 ranger plates (or pop the floor plate off and insert a small loop of paracord) and put magnetic hooks on the wall of your safe... then simply hang them on the wall inside. When you're ready to hit the range, pull them and put them in your range bag.

Interesting idea ...

I will probably buy around 10. If i can get 8 in the plano box, I'll store them unloaded in there. I don't shoot that often, maybe once a month. Going to stick with the factory 25rd ones for now unless S&W ever increases to 30-40. Safe is pretty much full at this point, just enough room for about one or two more small boxes like this. I bought two of the plano 1312's at walmart today so we'll see how it looks when the mags get here!

I keep all my magazines in a plastic bag in the closet. Ohhh yeah.
