Yummy. :D

When I'm in my tree stand freezing my nads off waiting to arrow a deer, I just keep trying to remind myself of why I hunt! It's well worth it when I can grill this outside in the middle of Michigan winter.

Butterflied backstrap stuffed with cream cheese, minced onions, garlic, fried bacon bits, a little salt and ground black pepper. About 20 minutes on the Traeger grill and it chow time.

I'll try that I have a couple of back straps in the freezer[emoji2]I did something that came out good last week, pork loin stuffed with apple pie filling[emoji2] about 2 1/2 hours on the Pitt boss at 225[emoji2]internal temp 145[emoji2]

Best deer venison was a mulie/blacktail from an apple orchard in WA. Worst was a "burro" deer (desert Mulie) from by the Colorado River/Salton Sea.

A lot of deer don't get to pick where they are born.

Being able to eat corn and apples, make for some great eating.

Here in Nevada, a lot of the meat is ground up for buger and Salami and
we don't need to add the seasoning "Sage" to our dishes !!

Actually the reason I like hunting is because it relaxes me. It's like yoga except I still get to kill something-(wiyh due credit given to the great Ron Swanson)

It is very 'Zen' just sitting, watching, listening, and taking in nature all around you. Then, You bag one and the work begins. Tracking, dragging, field dressing, skinning, butchering, etc. That whole 'Zen' thing goes right out the window! LOL

That does sound good. The apple pie filling thing never occurred to me. I'm going to have to give that a try...not with venison, though.

Around me they are all corn, and bean fed. It makes for some tasty venison, especially the Does. Bucks are used for salami, sausage, burger grind, and jerky.

My biggest deer was a 220lb. 4 x 2 combo. Corn and apple fed. The meat looked like beef. Had 3/4 in. of fat and marbled too. Really cooked well in many recipes. A long time ago.
