I was sent to Chicago (unbelievable traffic) to pick up a new Ascent for my former employer. I drove it home, approx 150 miles. It was very peppy and easy to drive. I thought the seats were uncomfortable, but I admit to having a pinched nerve in my lower back.

The audio system was good, but hard to figure out. I did not open the owner's manual, I just drove it. The climate controls I also found confusing, but again, didn't read the manual.

The adaptive cruise was easy to figure out and worked fine. This was the 3 seat model and seemed to have lots of room. There was no wind noise and everything seemed tight.

The hood seemed shorter than my wife's Edge and it was easy to see over. I heard a loud roar when I left the dealer, but it was the Blue Angels flying over the city. Wish I could have stayed and watched or at least watched out the windshield. However, no way to do that in the traffic. Don't those people have jobs? Do they just drive around all day?

I drive in that ****...there is no rhyme or reason for the traffic. It has been bad in the middle of the day or night. You just have to be patient and drive....

We just bought a 19 Camry, which has that adaptive cruise control and in my experience with it so far the school is still out on that adaptive stuff. To me, it freaks out way to fast and starts auto braking when there is a whole bunch of distance between our car and the slower one ahead. I do like the blind spot monitor thing though. The auto dim on the brights is pretty cool too.

My 2018 Forester (in fact all of my Foresters) have adaptive cruise control. Best I have every experienced. There are three distance settings for it depending on the density of traffic you are experiencing. I'll never go back to "regular" cruise control. It also has the "stay in your lane" feature and when that is on I don't even need to handle the steering wheel. Of course I do but you can feel it fighting you to get back in the middle of your lane.

The Touring model has the best stereo system I have ever had in a car; 10 speakers. The 2018 models went to thicker glass and that really made a difference in how quiet they are. The 2019 Forester grew a touch and I hope that doesn't continue. Carmakers continue to screw up a good car by making it bigger.

Ain't that a fact. The current Civic is as big if not bigger than Dad's 1982 Accord. My wife's BMW 3-Series is the same overall length with a longer wheelbase than a 1988 5-Series. My 1988 3-Series would be called a 1-Series today.
