I spent the weekend setting up our ranges for the 2019 North Island Speed Steel (Steel Challenge) match. It was supposed to have been held earlier this year but the March 15th Christchurch shootings meant it had to be postponed.
Saturday morning I cut, assembled and pinned down the 11 new shooting boxes the match required. Sunday we set out the target arrays and pinned them in place.
With the first weekend of summer weather here I had a wide brimmed hat for both days. Somehow during Sunday morning I left my hat in the car. When I got hime I realised that not only my face but my scalp is sunburnt. Ouch.
The match is next weekend with more summer weather forecast. Friday I shoot Production division with my Kimber Stainless II Target 9mm 1911.
Saturday I shoot Pistol Calibre Carbine (Tanfoglio P 19 (CZ75 alike) in a carbine frame) and .22 pistol (Browning Buckmark 5.5).
Sunday morning it is .22 rifle with my S&W 15-22. Except for Production my guns wear no brand holographic red/green dot sights from China. They work well and the added cost of a name brand dot just isn’t justified for one or two matches a year.
