That is a GREAT BOOK!! Does not matter if you are a gun fancier, it is a wonderful historical memoir of the American West. My son read cover-to-cover when he was 10 or 12. I had to make him put it away at night and turn off his light and go to sleep.

I agree. Even my non-shooting wife finds the history in his book fascinating. Tougher living but calmer times back then for sure.
 
Joined the Outdoor Life Book Club. Allowed to choose three books for free. Choose Hell I Was There, Nonte's book on pistol smithing and Carmichael's book on rifle smithing. Best book club I ever joined. Some of the best books I ever got. Still have them! Once after a move to a new pastoral appointment, we could not find HIWT. After a while, bought another copy. Then, of course, the original copy turned up! Now I have two! Sincerely. bruce.
