I donated a clamp on grab bar to get in the bath tub today. My physical therapist told me the elderly that are poor need these aids and can’t afford them. Most people have this stuff left over from a loved one in there basement. Get rid of it and donate it to your local hospital visiting nurses group. There is the elderly poor who can use it who don’t have the money to buy it.

These people need our help. Medicare doesn’t cover everything.

Let’s help the fellow Americans who made our country what it is today. Godbless.

Having the visiting nurse program keeps the elderly handicapped in there homes. Let’s keep them there.

You will get old someday, I had a bad fall and their helping me recover. Thank god there here for me.

This may vary depending on your region, but here the Lions Club is most active locally in maintaining a loan collection where seniors and the disabled can get anything from crutches to fully functional lift recliners and even power wheelchairs on permanent loan, no strings attached, just with the expectation that it‘ll come back when no longer needed, maybe with some additional stuff useful to somebody else.

All it takes is a phone call to the local coordinator, and they meet you at their storage units and see what they have that you might need, or gratefully take what you may no longer need.

Check on that, there are more programs like that and the one BigBill described. Donating will make you feel a lot better than getting a few bucks for grandpa‘s stuff on Craigslist ;)

The elderly can use our help. From walkers, bath aids, to wheel chairs.
Anything you have they can use.

I gave a new grab handle for the bathtub. Next it’s a new shower chair. I have the chair that rolls into the shower.

I had a bad fall and my doctor hooked me up with the visiting nurse and therapist from a local hospital to get me back on my feet. Did they help me out.

Also check with your local churches. Some of them run thrift stores and give items like that away for free to needy people. I have donated several items to them that my late mother-in-law used before she passed away.

This is an excellent idea!! I'm elderly and handicapped, living on SS and Medicare doesn't pay for many items. So, anything that costs very much is out of the question for me.
The grab bar on the tub is a great thing to have.
I've also found many items at Goodwill and the Habitat for Humanity Restore, all have been very reasonably priced.
And, I can tell you for a fact, anything to assist in the bathroom and tub is very useful and helps prevent further injuries.

I've related several times how I broke my kneecap last spring and am still semi-invalided. While I was in the hospital and rehab, my wife picked up a wheelchair, walker, grab bars, bed rail, and shower seat. I firmly believe in paying forward but was told I WILL be needing knee surgery in 5-7 years (Why they don't do it now I don't know), so we are storing them for now. They WILL be donated after me or the surgery passes!

ps: Knights of Columbus loaned us crutches!

I think we can help with our surplus equipment. The needy, poor, disabled elderly. I think I’m going to try to do more.
