Heaven help me, I've discovered suspenders and I love them!

I've always had good holsters and good CCW belts, but in about the last 6 months, I have to keep hitching up my britches. Combine that with my new-found desire to carry heavy snubbies, and it's been quite the sight. So, on a whim, I ordered about the cheapest pair of suspenders that I could see in Amazon. I tried them over a T-shirt, but under my untucked outer shirt, and it was an epiphany! The wife is not a fan though. Apparently I've crossed some old guy line now...

Any other suspender-wearing guys out there? Tips and tricks?

Thanks

I've been wearing them for about 15 years now. I just go to Home Depot and buy them from the tool dept. they are 2" heavy canvas I still wear a good belt for a holster. I don't worry about what other people think as I am old!!
I just tell people that's what happens when your belly is too big and your A$$ is too small.
P/S I just went to Perry's site and ordered 2 pair of the 2"X54"

I tried them for a short time. But the look said "I'm carrying".

Now I carry a full sized auto in AIWB, it's cradled comfortably in the crease and holds up my britches. I go on long walks and never have to adjust. Works great for me.

I believe you have the suspender wearing figured out.
The only advice I can give about your wife is turn a deaf ear to her and smile a lot. Works for me. :D Larry

I don't, at least not yet, but I remember reading somewhere that Perry suspenders are popular with Secret Service Special Agents on protection details because of all the gear they have to carry. Remember that scene from the Clint Eastwood movie, In the Line of Fire, where he's dropping all that gear on the floor?

If I do go the belt-and-suspenders route, it'll be Perry suspenders.

Perry Suspenders

Perry is the way to go...I would suggest you take a tape measure and measure from the back over your shoulders to where your front belt is...to get the correct size...Perry also makes the little bit narrower for dress, and also the more conventional clip type.

I use them when I wear a belt through the loops. Normally I wear my gun belt on my hips instead of the waist. It not only put the weight were it should be, it actually keeps the pants up without a waist belt. Plus the added benefit of just taking the belt off when going to the backroom.

The regular elastic Perry suspenders give out after awhile so I got a pair of their Tool Belt suspenders. The front is nylon instead of elastic so it doesn't sag and the bottom of the back is elastic so it gives.

I wore them with my duty belt and they beat all of the stuff Gall's sells for less than half the price.

Not sure why the hotlink says "search" but it will take you right to the Perry page

Take a look at Welch Men's Elastic Ergonomic Support Suspenders (Tall Available)

They have velcro belt loops.. absolutely flat unlike metal or plastic clips. I've been wearing the same pair for nearly 20 years.

I even have an Uncle Mikes pocket holster sewed to the left front strap right over my shirt pocket. A Ruger LC9s fits in there real nice a handy under a vest or jacket in the winter time.
