Hi all, was wondering if anyone knew of anyone who sells a waist style holster for my .500 x frame with 11 inch barrel. Any help would be appreciated thanx

Welcome aboard from Wyoming.

I'm 6'4" and even with my l-o-n-g arms I figured I wouldn't want to heft that 7-pound beast out of a strong side holster so I had a friend make a cross draw rig for mine. It's mighty comfortable and relatively easy to draw. He made it for sittin' on a horse (flesh or steel), but it works well for walking through the woods, too.

You might check out Von Ringler's Wyoming holster. He seems to like it for big, heavy iron.

There's a reason why chest holsters are used for these behemoths. Wearing something that heavy on your hip will cause you to walk in circles.

BTW: Moved to proper forum area.

Diamond D Leather out of Alaska is the best holster available as far as I'm concerned for big bore revolvers. The longest they go in a hip holster is 8 3/8. Their cross draw guide holster (S&W X-Frame) will go to 12"...but it's an additional $70.

I have both the hip holster and the Guide's Choice cross draw for my 7 1/2 Performance Center 629, and I prefer the cross draw (but I'm a short guy at 5'9").

If you give them a call, they may put one together for you custom (though all their holsters are made to order and take time to get).

Here's the cross draw and the hip holster together - the speed loader pouches are my addition - the ammo loops are their option.

Here's the 7 1/2" next to the hip holster

Here's the hip holster with ammo loop option (I could certainly see how this would work with a 12" revolver from horseback).

Contact Earl at Trailmaster holsters. I think he will work with you.

500 CARRY

Tucker made this cross draw rig for me about ten years ago when I was getting ready to head out to Colorado with a deer & Elk permit. Sadly no Elk showed himself within 1000 yards..
She carries pretty easy in this. :)
