SW22 Victory ejection failures

I just got a new Victory, went to my range yesterday, and it was a nightmare, I could not shoot more than 3 rounds at a time, mostly stovepipes, sometimes it would double load the cylinder. I found the mags were very greasy on their interiors, so much so the rounds would not drop into the mag, but rather stay in the top lips, cleaned them with bore cleaner, rounds drop now into the mags. I also bent the ejector bar inward a bit towards the ejection port, so it doesn't touch the chamber walls. Hope to try again on Friday.

Well, on Friday, all went great, shot 100 rounds of mixed ammo, CCI MM, Amscor, Stingers and Fed Blue Box. No FTE's, just 100% of good shooting.

Here are a couple pics of my Victory, before and after bending my ejector. Before I bent it, I was lucky to be able to shoot CCI mini mags with out it failing to eject several times per mag. After aligning the ejector, I can shoot any ammo I want, from the cheapest, slowest, dirtiest on the market to the top of the line with no issues. If you look close at the red outlined sections, you will see how the ejector doesn't run parallel with the bolt (look at the gap between the two), and after bending the ejector you will see they are close to being parallel. Sorry for the crappy pics, kind of hard to catch it perfectly on camera. Easiest way is to field strip your victory, put the bolt back in the receiver and turn it upside down. Then you will see if your ejector needs tweaking. Good luck.

Just chiming in to say that bending the ejector inwards toward the centerline of the receiver worked for me, as well. I bought a new Performance Center SW22, and it jammed every round. Yes, every round, right out of the box. I joined this forum exclusively to see the photos in another thread that referred to this one, and I thought that adding a recent comment was the least I could do to contribute. Again, post-bend=perfect feeding and ejecting. Also, I was not nearly so precise; I bent my extractor more than in the pic above.

I'm new to the forum but have a couple of years on my victory, probably 600rnds or so. I can count any failure on one hand.
That being said, I have spent alot of money with Tandemcross.
One item was the eagle claw ejector (or something like that).
From what I understand it will not bend and is the correct angle.
I always use good high velocity ammo.

Shameless pic.
Ok kinda shamed, pic is upside down. :o

SW22 can eat a lot of differnt ammo.

Yes, as fiasconva asks, it was all the same ammo (Remington Thunderbolt). I'll clean it, lube it, and take it back to the range and try the three other ammo brands I have. (I actually thought that might be the problem, but I wanted to get some input--maybe this was a known problem, with a known solution. If I still have problems I'll try your suggestion Viking Dude. My thanks to both of you.

My SW22 will chew up almost every brand of ammo I put through it,,,,,once I bent the ejector arm. Thunderbolts, federal, aquila, winchester, norma all no problem. You have to watch very closly you don't rebend it the wrong way when cleaning the bore.

I have a new PC Victory with a red dot sight on it coming from S&W (I'm an outdoor writer so I can buy direct). I love semi-auto 22s and was going to buy a Victory when they first came out but the problems posted on this Forum scared me off. I think/hope enough time has now passed that S&W has the kinks ironed out.

I bought a Ruger Mk IV Competition when they were initially released but the grip angle is uncomfortable for my arthritic wrist - their grip angle is a bit more sloped than a 1911's, which I find comfortable. An S&W employee told me the Victory's grip angle is very close to a 1911's so I hope this new gun will fit me.

Regarding ammunition, CCI MiniMags seem to be a very popular recommendation from gun manufacturers. I have an Advantage Arms 22LR Target conversion kit for 1911 frames and that is what they recommend too. BTW, the Advantage Arms kit is a very close clone to the more costly Marvel unit - it even locks the slide back on an empty magazine, a feature most such kits do not offer.

Ed

Edited to report that after waiting five months for S&W to manufacture the Victory model I wanted, I ordered a 7" Model 41. I probably made a wise decision.

can you over bend the ejector? If so what happens? Did anyone have to bend it back and start over. I have a Victory that stove pipes and jams every mag. I bent it out a bit and will go check it out this weekend. Photos are after bend.

thx Diego

22 handguns tend to be "ammo sensitive" as a group. The Victory seems to have a large share of teething problems if you are unlucky. In addition to FTF there was originally issues with the main frame screw shaking loose. Whether bending the ejector, changing ammo, dousing it with Loctite or exorcism, they all seem to eventually work.

Well, a big thank you to to forum. I guess I said the right chant and bent the ejector the right amount because all went extremely well today. Only one FTR out of about 200 rounds. I am extremely happy I got this worked out. I now have two of the Victorys that shoot lights out.
