I picked one up at the gun show last weekend - not sure why, but I did.
I did not find the trigger to be quite as bad as I had heard, but I went to work polishing and lubing whatever would stay still long enough for me to do it.
The rear sight was well off center, and I'd hoped that it hadn't been regulated at the factory. I took a nylon faced mallet and set it to what appeared to be center.
I took it to the range today and ran 300 rounds of WWB 115 grain FMJ, and another 60 or so rounds of various JHP thru it.
Everything worked perfectly, except for CorBon PowRBall - that jammed up twice in just 12 rounds. So much for PowRBalll in this thing...
My SWAG windage adjustment was spot on. The piece shot very respectable groups for me, though I found POI to be a bit low initially, same as had been the case with my now departed 457. As the session progressed, I found the Sigma and yours truly hitting the bull quite often from 10 yards - ripping an egg sized hole in the target - but still shooting somewhat low at 25 yards.
The trigger smoothed out a bit more, with some of the gritty feeling now gone. I suspect it will continue to improve with further use.
All in all - well worth the $322.00 OTD price I paid for it - so much so that I have changed my mind and will be getting the two magazine package from S&W rather than the $50.00 rebate. It will remain 100% stock - which is a real oddity for anything I own.
While destined to travel with me within the Old Dominion, I have a tendency to work with a piece until it is "perfect", and then set it in the safe while I work on yet another one. I think I'll be workin' with this one for a while longer...
