Swamp Gun !? I though Im was going to see what you used when hunting in thick wet bottom land . That colts looks more like a safe queen or very lightly used snubby .

Myswamp guns are from my first 42 years back in south west florida , a dw revolver 357mag with a red dot or a old 788 Remington 308 scoped with 2.5-10 . I killed many hogs and deer with hem .

SWAMPGUNS

NOT too expensive/pretty, RELIABLE, easy to clean & get running again after that unexpected KERPLUNK into some skanky/stinky/slimy mess. Open sights at those close ranges that you can just rinse off. +1 Levers & shotguns. A bore snake & a toothbrush are must haves. Handguns??? BIG BORE 357 MINIMUM FOR ME, & a retention type holster. I've had vines unsnap holsters, steal my eyeglasses, pick the car keys from my pockets. Snapping turtles, Skeeters from the Jurascic period, bees, briars, snakes, gators, & FYI that cute little otter you see on TV aint all that friendly. The Sig p220 is pretty easy to carry & do an emergency clean out & get it running again. Sorry no nicely blued Smiths here.

I was thinking Morehouse Parish Department of Corrections or Madison Parish Department of Corrections when I thought swamp gun.

Well, regardless of whether it had anything to do with a natural, god-made swamp or a slimy, political hell-hole swamp like D.C., that is a very pretty Colt! Thanks for sharing it.

The gun's serial number is 687200. When the MPDC went to Glocks detectives were allowed to buy these for $105. Likely refinished by Colt and new grips.

bigggbbruce Yep been there and don't that too . Mine was a rem 511 P with a globe front sight . Go out for a ride , drink a couple beer it was legal in florida back then and bring home meat !!

After the rainy season and an area we called the south blocks start to dry up we would take a large heavy duty dip net and work it along the ditch lines , crawdads , catfish , occasional sun fish and large frog and try to avoid getting to close to them deadly kind of snakes . Have a heck of a boil and fry that night . a school of Mullet show up in a brackish road side ditch while chicken necking crabs and fire a few rounds of 308 amongst them and have smoked mullet and once in a while mullet roe too .

Oh yea , the good ole days of my miss spent younger years .

You not a retired roofer from sw fl ??
