Sweden adds a huge arms manufacturing capacity to the alliance - huge.

Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said 18 nations were expected to spend 2% of their gross domestic product (GDP) on defence in 2024 - up from 11 in 2023 and a six-fold increase from 2014 when only three Nato allies hit the spending target.

The expected increase in defence spending also means European Nato allies as a whole will collectively spend 2% of their combined GDP - worth $380bn - on defence for the first time.

They've neutral since 1812, including in WW I & II.

What does that tell you about the Russian threat?

IIRC they provided all the iron ore that Germany needed in WWII.

I talk often with our two former exchange students from Sweden, and they and their families are very relieved with this news, as they were quite worried about Russian saber rattling of late.
One of the girl's stepfather works for the Swedish Defense Dept., and he is also pleased.
Last I heard, the Swedes make some very good, very silent diesel subs, a very good fighter aircraft that is NATO compatible, and an excellent Main Battle Tank similar to Germany's Leopard II.

Are you sure that wasn't Finland?

The UK used to send Mosquitoes painted in the colors of British Overseas Airways to collect batches of ball bearings from the Swedes. In one RAF guy's memoirs he recalled that when he landed one day, the Swedish ground guy suggested they stay in their kite for a minute or two. About then he realized there was a German transport aircraft on the ramp...and Fatty Goering was just climbing down the steps with his entourage. Each party studiously ignored the other.

Diplomatic posturing to counter the below:

February 22, 2024

Warning: The pro-Russian breakaway region of Transnistria may call for or organize a referendum on Transnistria’s annexation to Russia at a recently announced Transnistrian Congress of Deputies planned for February 28. The pretext for such a call would be the purported need to protect Russian citizens and “compatriots” in Transnistria from threats from Moldova or NATO or both. Russian President Vladimir Putin could, in the most dangerous course of action, declare Russia’s annexation of Transnistria during his planned address to the Russian Federal Assembly on February 29, although that appears unlikely. Putin will more likely welcome whatever action the Transnistrian Congress of Deputies takes and offer observations on the situation. ISW offers this assessment as a warning for a high-impact event of indetermined probability. Moldovan government officials state that the situation in Moldova is unlikely to worsen as of February 22.[1]

WARNING: Transnistria May Organize a Referendum on Annexation to Russia to Support Russian Hybrid Operation Against Moldova | Institute for the Study of War

Gosh darn those aggressive, vicious Moldovans! I sure understand the need of Transnistria to have Anschluss with Mother Russia! Especially since it would allow Russian forces on what is now a secure Ukranian border.

When will people learn about dictators?
