This Oldfella is looking for a good quality swivel-recliner chair, reasonably priced. I recently had surgery for lower back disk problems, but it didn't do much good. The chair should be ergonomically designed with true lumbar support, space-saver, not massive. Surely some of my friends here have some ideas about what I'm looking for. Thanks, much appreciated.

Pete, I had wondered where you have been. Glad to see you back and wishing you a speedy recovery.

As for chairs, as I'm a couch an ottoman kind, I got nothing for ya.

I have recently replaced my recliner, bad news is that massive sized ones seem to predominate. I also have lower lumbar disc problems, I have determined that sitting in a recline for prolonged periods does no good for my back. That said the suggestion made by the previous poster sounds like the one I would pursue.

Thanks, friends. This condition, with a pinched nerve, prevents prolonged sitting, laying down, and especially walking. The most I can do walking is about 50 yards, before the pain travels to my hip, and I'm done. I can drive to the range, but my shooting time has been cut to the very minimum, and my shooting has to be done from a siting position, no more than half hour per session. I'll keep looking for a suitable chair. Take care, folks.

I've been fighting the same problem for several years, but haven't tried surgery yet.If you can get to where it eases off of that nerve,I've found that a lot of hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter seems to strengthen the core muscles and helps keep things loose.Sitting or lying down just seems to aggravate it.Good luck!

had similiar surgery in late sept. this year. still not doing well and into the rehab portion, which i call physical torture not rehab.anyway i have a laz-e-boy that i added one of those donut type things and seemed to help. another that helped me was sitting on a heating pad set as low as possible. did you have what was called a decompression procedure?

Yes, had the decompressure procedure several times + physical therapy, each time I felt worse... some times I think it's all a scam - they get their jollies from torturing old people.
