All,

I posted this question on the Colt Forum, but if anyone has seen/ owns/ or has pictures, knowledge etc about the firearms TM Sayman of St. Louis owned, I would appreciate it. I recently purchased an Army Special with his marking on it. Thanks,

Brad

Sorry I can't help you, I know zero about Colts but we have several members here who are knowledgeable about them and can hopefully help you out.

No problem, I cross posted here because Mr. Sayman loved guns…Colt, Smith, you name it. I have found a 5 screw online with marked similarly to my Colt.

Might be this guy:

Thomas Mark Sayman (1853-1937) - Find a Grave Memorial

Read through the info..interesting points about a fully equipted shooting gallery at his factory and 'passing out pistols to employees'.
Definitely worth reading! Click the link above and then click "Read More". A part of the text:
Millionaire president of the T. M. Sayman Products Company. He was one of the last of the old-time medicine men. He ran away from home at the age of nine and joined the circus at the age of ten. Two years later he was a seasoned trouper and circus hand and was taken on by the P.T. Barnum Circus. He toured with that show for two summers through the New England states. He traveled for years with circuses, vaudeville units and pharmacopoeia and according to advertising distributed with his products, entered a medical college when he was 18 and studied for four years. He was connected with the crude vaudeville of the time and learned the secrets of selling medicine through means of entertaining a crowd first and then selling the medicine after the crowd had gathered and they were in a happy frame of mind.

Please post a pic of that one also.

My, Father, H. Winston McClure, was a member of the Glendale shooting club, & an active competitive shooter in the St. Louis area from the 1930's to early 1970's. I always perked up my little boy ears during shooting conversations. I remember hearing the owner of the "Sayman Soap Company" mentioned on more than one occaision - but the contexts escape me - I'm 78.
